At the vet . . . I just dropped him off at the vet to be neutered and get his teeth pulled. The vet said that he only feels one so he might have to do a Cryptorchid. I am worried about him. They let me leave is hedgehog and blanket for him. Which I hope will calm him a little. |
Prayers for your baby! My Molly is getting spayed on Wednesday so I can spend extra days with her with the holiday on Thursday and I'm taking Friday off. Molly still has her 2 baby canines and her adult ones, but vet said he'd check to see if there are more while she's asleep. |
I feel for you. When Barney was "tutored" a few weeks ago, it was the longest day waiting for him. I showed up to get him a half hour early and they let me go ahead and take him. I hope all goes well. On the upside, he recovered from the procedure very quickly. |
I can't wait to read when you have your gorgeous little boy back In your arms again. I know this is so difficult for you. I hoe Molly does well, too. |
Galen is in my thoughts and prayers. |
sending many prayers for a safe and successful procedure. hugs to you i know its not easy to distract urself while waiting for the phone to ring. |
Hoping to hear Galen's out of surgery soon. Stay strong. |
I will be waiting to hear about Galen. I'm sure he will do great! |
He'll be fine. :) But do keep us updated when you pick him up! He didn't seem TOO worried on the drive over ;) |
It's so much harder on us waiting, I think. Hang in there and stay busy. Praying for Galen and for mommy :) |
Praying for your precious Galen! Hope you get the call soon saying all went well! *HUG* |
Prayers going out for Galen's surgery. Please keep us updated. |
I just called them to see how he is doing. I could not wait. Well he did not even go in yet. They say another 1/2 hr . I brought him in at 8:30 so that he would get done early. They said they had a few overnights that had to have surgery this morning, which I could understand, but they should have told me that this morning. |
I'm sorry Galen's surgery was pushed back. Wish they had told you so that you weren't on pins and needles waiting for the phone call that he was done. |
Can you reschedule? If it were me i would, unless they are keeping him overnight with someone there with him? A retained testicle is a little more involved surgery depending on how far up it is , than a routine neuter. Eta: Not trying to worry you. The surgery is more like a spay and longer recovery time. My Nappy (Lunas uncle) had the same surgery and did ok. Just a bit longer for healing than the regular snip snip |
No need to worry, everything will work out. Henri's surgery when he was neutered was pushed back a couple of times due to emergency cases that needed the vet's attention and he was still done only a half an hour later. He was neutered, teeth removed, and microchipped. Everything will be fine, you just need to find a way to distract yourself from worrying until your baby is ready to come home:) |

Any news yet? (((HUGS))) I'm sure he'll be fine and in a day or two he'll be whizzing around like he'd never had anything done :) |
Praying for your baby! Will be back in your arms before you know it! Mine just got spayed on the 19th and it was harder on me than her. :) |
I feel your pain!! Remy had her dental today. I was nervious |
Sending best wishes for Galen. |
Checking in for Galen update. I hope all went well. |
Update on Galen. He is home. Doing good. He has two incisions. They removed 17 teeth  I picked up a little wet food for him. Don't think he is going to eat anything hard anytime soon. My poor little guy. |
17 teeth??? Wow! Maggie had 6 removed and I thought that was a lot. Poor little guy, I hope he's not in too much pain. |
hope that Galen is doing well// that's a lot of teeth to be pulled at one time |
Just saw your post. OMG! What a day for you two. I'm so glad Galen is home and recovering from his big day. I think he holds the record with 17 teeth.:getwell: |
I'm glad Galen is home and doing well. 17 teeth!! That is quite a collection. Hopefully his mouth will recover quickly since they were baby teeth. I'm happy for both of you that the big day is over. Wishing Galen a speedy recovery. |
Galen- Perfect name! Galen of Pergamon - Roman surgeon, physician and philosopher. The name may have brought you some good luck! It sounds like Galen had a successful surgery and will be feeling much better soon. Your vet made a good choice to do the surgical procedures requiring anesthesia together to save you the expense and Galen the trauma. I would ask the vet where the retained testicle was located. My guess it was in the inguinal canal/groin area since he was released today. The testicle does not drop because the gubernaculum does not develop properly preventing the testicle to drop in the scrotum. It will instead end up in the groin area or the abdomen which is a much more involved surgery. This is good to know for Galen's health history. I am sure you are glad to have him home. He will be back to normal self in a week or sore. I am sure he is glad to have the deciduous teeth extracted - 17 is a lot but not unusual for these little breeds. FYI - AKC has done several studies on the genetics of Cryptorchidism in the Siberian Husky, Shetland Sheepdog and the Chihuahua. There is also a ton of information online. I would also inform the breeder so they can maintain complete breeding program records. All the best. |
