A POSITVE post about YT I felt the need to say this because lately we've had some people have their feelings hurt and bash the whole site over a comment or 2 - My reason for THIS post is to say.... on the flip side of this - MANY of our posts that some people find offending... Others have learned things they didn't know and these same posts have opened their eyes to a whole new way of seeing things. I can't tell you all how many pm's I've had from a new person saying they didn't know about Puppy Mills.... or how dangerous breeding can be etc...and it was all due to the posts about these same subjects that people have come here and LEARNED something. I don't like to see outright rudeness - but sometimes, people say how they feel & they are entitled to their feelings - With so many personalities of the many different people here ...this site IS a place where people CAN LEARN. I hate to see anyone bash the whole site just because they didn't like what someone said to them - this site is made up of Thousands of people who are all here for the same reason - we love yorkies - I've said this before - but when someone posts and asks for advise - they should be able to sift thru the responses and accept the good and the 'not so' good answers because ....In the end - it's all about the YORKIES People easily offended should be glad people take the TIME to even answer the many questions here. There are some sites that people ask for help and just don't really get it - at least this site always has people ready to step up and offer theirs :) HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone ! |
You said it all Villette :) |
I agree with you 100%!!! :D |
Well said Villette, as always. I agree, that is what makes these sites work, and interesting, different Views, different opinions, different ways to do things. Things you would not think of. That's what I want when I post a question, Sure maybe sometimes there is something in a post I dont agree with, But it is just that, someones elses opinion, and that's fine. If we all had the same response and feelings, how interesting and fun would this place be then?? Not Much! I will say,, I do wish some of the topics, that bring the claws out, would stop. Some are like a dead horse, beat and beat again. That's all I'll say on that. |
It's so weird - we see so MANY great posts and helpful answers.... but it just seems that one post where someone gets offended gets the most attention - :( I wanted to remind everyone of the many many Positive posts here - people come to grieve for their lost pets - have breeding questions - health questions - training issues - the list goes on and on With such a big site - We can't let a few comments take away from the tons of EXCELLENT posts here. The good far outweighs the bad. and Rhonda - you're so right - but sometimes the posts that bring the claws out actually have merit too - it's too bad sometimes they get overheated - but the good thing is people REALLY read those - and anyone new to this site could actually learn from them too - because they really DO bring up very valid statements from people who really know what they're talking about. |
I agree and hate seeing the posts about cliques on YT. Or about people being too judgemental. I cant understand why some people get so sensitive about what is said on here. It is just an online forum and I have been on others that are much worse. Everyone has an opinion and you just have to sift through the good and the bad. Usually there is something to be learned even from a post you dont agree with. This forum would be very boreing if all our opinions were the same. |
Way to go Villette!!!!! Well said! This is a Yorkie Family. Everyone can learn from this site, I know I sure have. It's a site to learn about our special breed, share information you have, and make great on-line friends who share the love of Yorkies. I just love this site, And I feel very Blessed I found it! Happy New Year To You All!!!!! :yorkietal |
pretend thats a wine glass---------------> Here here ....well said everyone! Cheers! |
"The good far outweighs the bad." That says it all, Villette. :) :D |
I agree with all of you! I don't even get involved in those posts that are destined to go down hill. I am just so thankful for all of the great advice and knowledge I have gained from being a part of this group!! You are all such a great group and so diverse with your opinions!! That is what makes this such a great site. :) |
WELL SAID..... For some reason the last 2 weeks have been well...strange... Maybe it is the stress of the holidays.....but I think what is hard to remember is that if a post looks like smells like or acts like "bait"...it probably is....the best thing to do is leave it alone..... JMHO- Have a Happy New Year! |

Rather than get offened and hurt someone else's feelings, when I see a post with too much "drama" in it, I just don't post! I believe also that everyone is entitled to there own opinion and we should focus on what's the most important thing, "Our Yorkies" Thanks Villette for reminding everyone why we are all here :) |
Villette, Thanks for posting this. Sometimes we do get caught up in expressing our opinions, it's nice to have a reminder that really no harm is meant for some of us. I had inadvertantly offended someone when talking about my beliefs and opinions. I am very matter of fact sometimes, but I am not trying to offend or say I'm better, or that I know the only way. But my posts get taken like that sometimes. Now I feel I have to add some extra words like 'not trying to offend' and 'this is my opinion' or 'from my experience' ...but they don't always seem to help. Instead of changing who we are and how we post we need to accept each other. I've heard so many times, if we all agreed this would be a boring place and that's so true. Again great post Villette!! And as a side...to all the members on this forum. I am NOT the type to humiliate or purposely offend others. My sense of humor is rather lame sometimes. However, if I firmly believe something I don't back down. I will continue to educate what I believe in. However, I am open to others opinions as well. Or try to be anyway. Well I feel much better thanks to this thread. Group hug! Irene |
People easily offended should be glad people take the TIME to even answer the many questions here. -- bravo  I always like your posts  |
thanks I think we get alone quite well for a high volume forum...but there is always room to improve..thanks Villettte. |
i just want to say that I am so thankful that I found this place, for many reasons. The biggest being that I wasn't aware of puppymills and their contribution to pet stores. I sure would have bought a cute puppy in the window before. I have learned so much more than that too. I didn't realize just how much until I caught myself giving advice to people. I also met the great person that I am getting Chewie from. I just can't say enough about how wonderful this place is. You have to come into it knowing that when you post about stuff, you can't expect all the answers or replies to be full of sunshine and happiness. Look at me, I have rambled on. Anyway, THANK YOU YTers ! |
i agree with you 100% you always know exactly what to say :D |
I agree with everyone! |
I forgot to add I didn't know what a puppymill was until I came here and knowing what I know now I'm trying to spread the word to people NOT to buy puppies from petstores etc. |

I totally agree too!!! Anyone that has been around here for a while can see that this is a great place with SOOOOOOO many great kind hearted people with lots of valuable knowledge and insight from first hand experience! Lots of people on here that are now regulars may have had a bumpy start here but they stayed and soon learned what a great place it is to learn and share the love of the breed with so many kind and caring people. To judge the site by one or two threads is just not a fair judgement of this site :) |

IMO, people who get so easily offended on a PUBLIC forum can go.....um, somewhere else. |
so many responses :D "looking around"....................Should I get more wine & glasses?? this is a positive thread and yes we have all learned so much! I personally respect & enjoy the fact that we all have different & varied opinions........this is how we all learn! I am proud that the ppl posting their "opinions" do so & are not afraid too!! To be honest in this world is definately a WONDERFUL quality! thank heavens we are all different cause if we were all the same it would beeeeee so boring!! More wine anyone?? |

edited to add the letter t to "this" :D |
<drinking more wine>...and I'd like also add that I am glad I can speak freely, that the admins don't expect us all to agree. I belonged to a board where my posts would get deleted when I would post matter of fact because the owners didn't agree with me or they said some snide remark about one of my furbabies and I called them on it..my posts were deleted, UNLESS I was a yes ma'am and agreed with everything the owners said and said they were holy than thou!..so I really apprecaite YT!! I run a community with thousand's of people and I know sometimes things can get a little crazy for a while. Maybe it's a full moon, hormones or whatever but it always calms down and that's why I love this place too. The administrators do a fantastic job of keeping this site going and I know firsthand it's not an easy task. Have you ever been on a site where there wasn't a good moderator? It's a free for all! We all have different backgrounds, locations, age groups, personalities etc. so of course not everyone is going to agree with everyone, BUT that's what makes the site so special. I love hearing other opinions to things even if I don't agree and sometimes it's even made me go hmmmmm. Maybe that's not a bad idea, or I might see things in a different light. Okay sorry for going off and rambling! |
I will admit, that I am a skeptic... I found this site in March, and I am already well knowledgeable about a lot of different thing's. I post info about puppy mills, pet stores everyplace I travel on the net, that let's me post. I am free here to share my love of yorkies, and have people help me with my Nemo! I also know that no matter how many heated threads there are, there just as many, loving, helpful, anf full of humor threads. The Great out-weighs the bad here all the time. I also know that if you've been around people for a while, personalities shine through...and bond's forms, now be it with their pup, their pup's poop, or the owner itself...It is all in the love of Yorkies.... |
