Are your Yorkies in your will? Since my Mom passed away a few months ago, hubby and I have realized how important it is to have everything ready - just in case. (I've encountered so many problems even though my Mom had everything in order!) Anyway, as we're going through everything we've come to a point where we're deciding what to do about our 3 Yorkie babies - whom we love dearly. We only have 2 grown children out here and neither one would be able to take care of them like we do. I'm on FB and have been seeing so many Yorkies brought into rescues because their owners died or are unable to take care of them anymore. I just can't let that happen. I don't think my Max could be separated from our Mia. I need to figure something out soon. We're just wondering... have any of you already written your will & how have you planned to take care of your pups if/when you die? Thanks! |
We haven't thought of this yet (I hate to say, but I am thinking we will out live Jack and Izzy) however, I am interested to see what others have to say about this. |
We don't have children, so wills are not a big priority. Haven't really given it thought. Need to, though... |
Not actually in a will, but we know who will take care of Winston if anything should ever happen to hubby and I. Our nephew is the perfect choice... |
I had never thought about this before, but it's an interesting topic! If both my partner and I were wiped out, one of my brothers, who is a very good, kind person, would take care of Bella. |
We haven't specified it in our will. But, our youngest son and his family will take all 4 of our animals. This will keep them together and they love them. Julia, our shepherd is pushing 12 years old. I feel certain that we will out live her. Not sure if we will get another pup or not. We've discussed it and, if we do, we will try to rescue a yorkie or a yorkie mix. This is a good topic for discussion. |
Yes we have things planned out for any of the yorkies that we may still have living at the time of my death. I did that several years ago. |

We don't have wills yet, but I have verbal agreements. If I were to pass, my husband would take care of our pups. If both of us were to pass, my mom would take them on. She has a yorkie of her own and knows and loves my two. |
Yep Cali is in the will and has a trust fund set up for her insurance and care with an executor to over see her care. I don't have family so we had to be very specific about what she would need. I'm all she has got (and vise versa) ! |
Never thought about it but my DBF would keep Galen and the kitties if I passed if both of us passed my mom would take them and send my dad to my sister's |
I have someone to take chester if anything happens |

I think it's VERY important to specify in your Will any pet, and not just to name names....it saves keep going back and changing it. Also, we've gone beyond ".....to my daughter" - we've imagined the worst case scenario (say Andy, Anna and I were in an accident, not very likely, but a possibility) and sorted out the just-in-case. We've also specified a sum of money to be used for 'whoevers' care, in every way....and to recompense the 'carer'. All a dreadful, frightening thought.....but once it's done it's actually quite reassuring :) Sally + Harry x |
Thanks, For the focus. My wife is 13 years younger and is adequately ensured of condition continuum. If we both died our little girl needs cover. I'd hope my wife's daughter (already has two yorkies) would step in, but she lives in Russia and there are costs in re-settlement? |
Paris was in my will with money set aside for his care. |
