Can you leave your dog loose in the house? Jackson has been left totally free roam in the house since about 5 1/2 months old. He always proved to be trustworthy. If anything, he's worse when I'm home with finding things to pick up and chew when he's bored, etc, but when he's alone (or if I'm not home and others are) he just sits in the window sill. We did the crate thing very briefly as a pup (3 weeks maybe) and then graduated to an ex-pen but it didn't really last long. Our family has generally just been a 'dogs are loose' kind of family so it's what I know. |
Tibbe has been left loose in the whole house since his housebreaking was done. He never disturbs a thing. |
my guys are "free" at around 6 months or so. Bailey had to be crated (play pen) a little longer because he was a chewer!!!! |
Psssssssh HECK NO Mr Peanut can't handle being left alone in the house, I will put the baby gate up in our door way and lock him in our room :D I'm sure Mr. Jackson will be fine. |
If jackson does fine when alone, just let him roam free :) I trust Nena, she can stay loose in the house, but Rufus makes a disaster when he is alone! Everything that he can chew and/or eat he will grab! :D |
Lexi gets the whole downstairs. Upstairs hasn't been Lexi proofed. She's an explorer and loves to find new things. |
No, I don't let Morgan roam |
We don't let our dogs roam free in the house because they bother the cats and we're afraid the cats will scratch their eyes out if they get annoyed. |
Max and Teddy are never alone (exception: when dad was gone for a week). However, they are limited to the back of the house, the living area, to keep them away from stairs and doors. They prefer it that way. When I leave the hall doors open, they might go take a peek, but they come back right away. I videotaped them when I had to leave them alone. They stayed in their beds almost the whole time. |
Lexi's been running free since about 4 months and she does just fine. But, free, really means upstairs. When I leave she's downstairs watching me go out the door. But, immediately, whenever she can't find me, she goes upstairs. She can go up , but she can't come down, so she's up there til I get home. But, it works out, because my bedroom is her favorite spot anyway. :) Little Mr. Peanut is hilarious, btw... |
I won't let Galen run free. His new thing is to jump up to try to get the cat. Also he likes chasing them. I don't want him to eat hurt |
Mandie is left to roam all areas that have NO carpet. Just sayin...lol |
Joel is good when he's loose in the house, he does like to get into some stuff lol but he makes up for it because he listens really good when I say leave it, bring it or drop it but some things he just can't help to get. He just know graduated from his crate to staying in the living room with Rosco when we leave but all he does is watch and wait for me to come back so he's good :) |
Callie has never been left alone but she has always had free run of the house. I never knew about play pens and stuff when she was a puppy I sure wish I had though lol |
Brandi has the whole house. I trust her completely. She is trained to use potty pads. The only thing she does is scratch up the window she looks out of barking at other dogs or just about anything that passes by. She gets excited and stands on her hind legs scratching up the window. But other than that she is a perfect little angel.....now the cat on the other hand is a whole different story. |
