Do you take your yorkie everywhere you go,,,

I took Gus everywhere I went. Hell he would go nuts looking for his carrier when he would hear the keys or hear the words "lets go" He was so attached that he didn't care where we went as long as he was with me. So now that I have Leiloni I plan on doing the same as long as she's ok with it and is not scared or stressed out. We limit the places we go till she's had all her shots. Yesterday my husband and I went to the drive in to see This is the end and took her with. We stopped at the store to get some goodies. When checking out the cashier who knows us asked to take a quick peek at Leiloni's outfit. That's when a rude lady said "oh no your one of those people who dresses their dog forces them to stay in purse while you parade around showing off"

I'm not one to fly off the handle but this lady pushed all the right bottoms to make me snap! I turned to this person said (I will try to censor my words and not repeat what was actually said) "&$@#% you don't know me! I didn't tell you anything about your snot nose brat when he was throwing a fit and screaming his head off for what ever reason. My dog is perfectly happy and is quite comfortable. She's not barking or causing a scene unlike you and your brat! And as for showing off, you would have never known she was even there if someone who knows me wanted to see my baby"

I don't mean to offend anyone. This is the very reason I love yorkies. I hate to defend myself against rude people. I'm not hurting anyone. I'm very happy and so is my Leiloni! It was one big snuggle fest at the drive in. Leiloni stood sleep all warm and comfy on my chest.

Needed to vent! Lets just hope we never run into this person ever again!

yikes some people are so judgemental. you should see the looks i get when i say i make doggie fashions. people think im a nut...i just smile and say do you realize its a billion dollar industry. hehe. dont let them make you feel bad nor do you have to justify yourself. as long as you know shes happy thats what counts.

Bellabean 06-24-2013 10:14 AM

I take Bella everywhere with me. On the rare occasion that I leave her home my husband says she gets really upset! Rude people need to mind their business.

My Gus would do the same thing. My daughter who was home with him all day when I started working said he would sit facing the garage door looking all sad waiting for me to walk in.

smithj1000 06-24-2013 10:58 AM

I take Lexi with me everywhere I go except stores with food. She absolutely loves shopping and greeting all the people in the stores. It has nothing to do with 'showing her off' to others and everything to do with making her happy!

Maximo 06-24-2013 11:16 AM

I take my boys everywhere that allows dogs. My dad and I laugh at ourselves that we have both become the kind of people we privately laughed at in the past.

What the woman said to you was rude. You should have felt sorry for her that she doesn't have Yorkie love in her life. Obviously that is why she was sour. :)

kimp5 06-24-2013 11:25 AM

Well I don't take Jess with me everywhere I go but I feel that it's everyones right to do as they please if they aren't bothering anyone. That woman should have kept her big yap shut. Its none of her business..people never stop amazing me. No filter...

chachi 06-24-2013 11:32 AM

We Just go to placesThat allow dogs. Theres no sneaking big butt Chachi in a carrier and Jewels doesnt like to be confined

dalady25 06-24-2013 11:43 AM

I HATE leaving Milo & he HATES being left, so yes, I take him anywhere & everywhere that I legally can. I went to the local Verizon store recently & when I asked the mgr if I could bring him in, she asked me to PLEASE bring him in---she had seen him outside & wanted to love on him.

It's sad that some people have such sour dispositions that they can't stand to see anyone else happy. That woman definitely needed to be put in her place.

MyDearSam 06-24-2013 11:43 AM

Sam is an anxious traveler, so no, he doesn't go very often. That woman was incredibly rude.

I do think I would try to refrain from calling someone's child a 'snot nosed brat'. The truth is you really don't have any idea why a child may be acting out.

spiritwings1202 06-24-2013 11:50 AM

That woman was just being ignorant. I take my girls with me if it is dog friendly. CT is not as good about allowing dogs as the south. My dogs love clothes they get all excited when you go to dress them. That woman needs a yorkie to change the way she thinks:)

The kid threw himself on the ground kicking and screaming because she said he couldn't have a toy he wanted. I shouldn't have said that but she really got me mad and should have kept her comments to herself just as I did when I seen her kid throwing the fit.

chachi 06-24-2013 12:12 PM

That lady was rude and i hate being at a store when a child is having a tantrum like that

Thank you! I hate when that happens too. But I would never ever be that rude and say anything to the patent. Kids will be kids. Although I have complained to a theater manager for a kid crying and the parent not doing anything about it. I have 3 kids of my own that have acted out. Not by throwing a fit because they knew better. They would even sometimes cry but knew better to test me by throwing a fit in public

ive went through those yrs too but my daughter is 12 now . She was a screamer at home but never acted out in public

MyDearSam 06-24-2013 12:58 PM

It's scary being the parent of a little one these days. Sarah is 3 and would test the patience of a saint. I have snatched her up and literally run out of stores and restaurants with her - wishing I could sink through the floor the whole time. I've wanted to dust her backside but good - but too afraid to do anything for fear of someone calling the police on me!

Which is another reason for Sam to have to stay home - I'd have to be an octopus to keep up with both of them!

CouversMom 06-24-2013 12:58 PM

I take my two everywhere. They would rather be with me than at home. At times we have to leave them home, and they pout. They both love being in the bag and most of the time, people don't even know we have dogs with us.

That lady was rude and I'm glad you spoke up. I would love to have seen that :)

ShowGirlLola 06-24-2013 12:59 PM

I've had quite a few people make negative comments to me about my dog's clothes too.
She loved dressing up, if you took her clothes off she'd act abused. When she got dressed she'd help you put the outfit on and then prance around. She even knew what a costume was, if I got dressed up without her she'd get upset.

I haven't dressed Lola yet, but I want her to like clothes and being carried in a purse.
I'm afraid I'm really going to have people comment when I'm alone with her because most people think I'm 16-18 years old.

It is tough! My kids are grown. My yongest is 17. They were good when they were younger. It's the teenage years that was bad! Too big for a good spanking but not too old to take away their favorite things,,, cell phones, iPods and computer!

yorkietalkjilly 06-24-2013 02:20 PM

The last time I took Tibbe into a store with me a week or so ago, a little boy came up from behind suddenly and grabbed his little leg out of the blue! Scared me to death and that young child with my tiny little dog's little leg in his closed hand was dangerous. I was able to get his hand off Tibbe's leg before he yanked it or anything but he was pulling outward on it and I decided after that that I probably won't ever take Tibbe in a store again without his being in a carrier. I don't know if the boy was special needs or something but anything can happen when you take them into public places in your arms as I did. Something to think about.

Deb1 06-24-2013 02:49 PM

We take our three with us almost all the time! They do not get left behind because not only would they be sad but I love to be with them. I don't "show" them off but if asked, I do proudly let people see them and answer questions. We are quite a spectacle when we go out with the three of them!

As far as the rude women goes.....she obviously doesn't have a yorkie and doesn't understand the love we have for them. Beside she was probably stressed out by her kid making such a fuss and embarrassing her! Jealous of your quite little one compared to her wild child!

hollie91999 06-24-2013 03:48 PM

I have taken my baby with me to lots of places. He enjoys it and is well behaved. He gets in his bag when he sees that I'm getting ready to leave. I don't see why people make a big fuss especially if you wouldn't have even noticed that the dog was there. Good for you for putting her in her place.

Where was the parent(s)? If he was special needs, I would think the parents would watch him more carefully... Anyway, after reading your post, I'm sort of glad Zoey prefers being carried in the doggy backpack. I don't usually take them out to public places other than my work and petsmart but when I do, I tend to keep my eyes on Magnus.

I've been fortunate so far not to meet anyone rude. I (more Zoey) seem to get quite the attention since I carry her in the doggy backpack. People usually ask why she doesn't walk along with Magnus. Generally, everyone thinks it's really cute. :D

OMG I would have freaked! I'm so glad little Tibbe was ok after that. Leiloni was in her bag the whole time. The lady wouldn't have even known she was there if it weren't for the cashier asking to see her dress. One time we were at a car show and I had Gus in his stroller and some kid came up to him trying to unzip the stroller trying to let him out. All I said was no no and his mother quickly apologized, got him by the hand and took him away.

Connie 06-25-2013 07:56 AM

The nerve of that lady to say what she did...and...after her child throws a tantrum fit in the store! I don't blame you for calling her a snot nosed brat. That was not half as bad as what she said to you. She needed to be told off and I say, "way to go!"

lexi43 06-25-2013 08:06 AM

Did you ever shop at Toys R Us at Christmas time. You want to see temper tantrums this is the place to be. There should be shops that don't allow kids in it. Anyway I wish I could take my dogs with me but they are kind of too big for a bag.

Dukie Baby 06-25-2013 08:08 AM

I take Cooper with me and he stays in his carrier and looks out at everyone and no one even knows he's in there. His carrier is large enough for him to stand and turn around, and he is perfectly content to run errands with me.

That woman was rude, and obviously she was never taught that if she doesn't have anything nice to say, she shouldn't say anything at all.

When Fritz was younger I took him with me most of the time. But as he got older he didn't enjoy going and he would get to hot in the carrier (even though its mesh on 3 sides). I also tried to dress him but he would fight me tooth and nail. He loves the naked life!:woof:
Sophie loves to go everywhere with me and doesn't mind the carrier or clothes at all. I hope she stays this way. I think Fritz likes his time at home with his daddy alone.
