Diapers
 
Thoughts on diapers?? I hate leaving Miley at home but she's not potty trained and doesn't use her pad all the time but when i'm at my friends house or somewhere she can be I feel so guilty and think about her all the time. Are diapers really okay to put on a dog? I just feel like she might be uncomfortable because I mean she is a dog. But until she's potty trained that'd be the only way to get her places with me.

I've never tried diapers on any of my dogs. The closest I've came to covering Cinder's bottom is the onesie. She's ok with that. When you go to a friends house, is there a place to take her outside to do her business?

I wouldn't want diapers on for urinary purposes. It holds that moisture close and may lead to infections or her becoming okay with being wet. I think diapers are mostly used and meant for females who are in heat and bleeding.

Miley is only 15 weeks. She gets her 16 week old shots Thursday. She hasn't really been outside since she doesn't have all of her shots and my friend lives in an apartment complex so there isn't somewhere I could take her where there aren't any dogs. Yesterday I went to my friends for 3 hours and that was only because my mom was home haha. People who don't have dogs don't understand that they ARE like babies.

Yes that's what I was afraid off. Miley already had/has (she's been on medication for a week now) a UTI.

It may hinder rather than help her potty training. If you ever do get some diapers though i have seen some cute ones with lace fringes on the back from YT vendors

yeah thats another thing i'm afraid of :( She's having a pretty hard time with potty training. Also a few times she's pee'd in her BED. I thought dogs didn't relieve themselves where they slept? Unless she is sweating. Is that possible??

if she is peeing on the bed she may just not have good control of her bladder muscles yet

ohh okay is that something that develops as she gets older? She's only done it twice but literally her WHOLE underbody gets wet which is why I was like hmm maybe dogs sweat lol

Before mine was fully trained, she pee'd in her bed. I think she was excited when she did, because she was waiting for me to get a new toy ready for her. (dang tags!!) So they can pee in their beds. Make sure you talk with the vet about potty training issues on Thursday though. Maybe it's her UTI and potty training will get better when it clears up. I hope she get's well soon. :)

Okay I definitely will talk to him! I'm glad she's not the only one that pee'd her bed. Yes that's why I've been very lenient because she does have a UTI.

Yes I was told last week and a day ago that she had a "very mild but noticeable UTI" She's been on her medicine for a week and a day now and her urine isn't as strong as it was thank god. Now she just smells like antibiotics haha

you may even see a little blood in her urine and thats normal for a UTI

I agree that diapers will only hinder potty training and set you both up for a lot of misery in the long run -- including infections.
