I switched vets and little Marco is getting neutered this Wednesday. Teeth will likely need to be removed too... He has a pretty pronounced underbite. This vet made me feel much more comfortable and is sending him home with me at 5pm with pain meds. They estimated a cost of $200 and have to do an exam on him first since have never seen him. It's a highly recommended vet in town. |

Glad to hear you made the switch and that your little one will be able to come home after the procedure. My vet let Jack come home after his neutering but kept Izzy overnight for her spay (which are two completely different surgeries - neutering is much less invasive than spaying). I will keep Marco in my prayers on Wednesday and please be sure to post and update for us. Oh and welcome to YT! |

Thank you. I feel a little weird on YT since Marco doesn't look like a yorkie, as he is a mix. But oh well! I love him the same amount |
I'm really happy to hear you changed vets. I thought you should - as soon as you asked if you should - because just asking that told me you didn't trust him. :) Honestly, I can't understand ever having to have your dog stay overnight for a spay or a neuter *unless* your dog has some other medical problems. I have 3 Yorkies and each one was spay/neutered in the morning and sent home by 4pm. I would never let one of mine stay *unless* there was an emergency and there was going to be someone there *at all times* which normally is not the case. Most vets will want you to go to an emergency animal hospital because they have staff already scheduled. Yes, definately make sure your pup's teeth are all out - otherwise you might have to take him back in... you don't want to have to put him under twice. I think most of mine were around 7 months old. Great job trusting your instincts! |
I made an appointment and had Becca at the Vet's when they opened at 7am. It was just like it didn't happen when I picked her up at 5pm. Scar's gone now, and you can't see any evidence she was Spayed. |
