do you take your dog in for an annual checkup Hi all..... Just wondering if it is still the popular thing to do to take your pets in for an annual check up every year or do you only go when there is something that needs to be treated or looked at? Tina |
Yearly for annual, vacs, heartworm, etc. |
Tibbe gets a twice a year comprehensive exam and full lab testing including heartworm and fecals except for urine. They don't do a urine unless they can catch it and can't always. |
I have only had Katie for a little over a year, but I am a huge believer in preventative medicine with my dogs. I took Katie in for an annual checkup last month. Before this, I had yearly dentals on my three girls who are at the Rainbow Bridge. Ashley lived to seventeen, and I took her to my vet every couple of months. I have an awesome vet who I trust implicitly. It gave me peace of mind to have them checked out, and although Katie is only four, I feel better being proactive with her health. Our vet is extremely compassionate and fair, and he has a wonderful way of putting Katie at ease. |
I take mine 2 X a year for check up and full blood work. They only get their Vac's every 3 years now, but get HW tested every year. Dentals are done as well. And of course when ever somethimg may come up they go to the Vet. |
Absolutely. If there's anything going wrong, I want to know about it ASAP. |
I always take my girls in for an annual check up:) |
I do take Winston in yearly for check-ups...and anytime I feel the need in between. Plus he goes to the groomer every 2 weeks at the vets office...so they all know him pretty well there. If the groomer notes something while there, he's seen by the vet as well. Which has happened on a couple occasions. |
I don't really plan on taking Uni in for her annual checkup. I just bring her in whenever I think there is an issue. Which ends up being at least 3x a year. And while I'm there, I will request bloodwork, heartworm/flea meds, etc or whatever else that is due soon. |
They should go in for a yearly check up, stool sample, and blood work. The blood work should check for any tick transmitted illnesses, heart worms and any other thing your vet feels is important. If you don't do this regularly when your dog gets sick then you will have nothing to compare blood work to and such. Plus there are dogs who you think are perfectly healthy that aren't and the blood work could show up a problem before the dog starts showing symptoms. |
Annual checks |
We do annual comprehensive exams which include a fecal, bloodwork, heartworm test and overall check up. It's worth the peace of mind. |
Yes and yearly blood work. |
It works out good I got Lola in April and that is the beginning of heart worm season, so every year we go to the vet and have the heartworm test, what ever vaccines are needed, a full blood panel, stool check, so far I have not been able to catch a urine sample. So far everything looks good, She is 2.5 years the vet said her teeth were immaculate, no tartar, that is a first for me all my other dogs had lots of tartar from when they were young. No that she is spayed we have had little reason(knock on wood) to go more than that. |
