Comprehensive check up twice a year. I'm actually taking them both in coming Monday. Which I'm glad about b/c I've found ticks on Magnus way too many times. Even though I check those spots every day to make sure I don't see any sign of infection, I'd feel much better knowing for sure with blood check ups. I'm also going to ask the vet to check and make sure his chip is where it should be. I've read quite a few articles that state the chip can migrate. |
All of mine go in for annual exam,shots and bloodwork. This is something that I set $$ aside for each year. |
Well, I know I am an over protective mama. My vet probably thinks I need to rent a room. Mine go in for their yearly and everytime they sneeze. lol! |
morgan goes every year for a comprehensive vet exam// of course he goes in every 2 months to get his eye pressure checked since he has glaucoma and dry eyes// my vet says I get the special ones because they know that I will provide any care that they need and he also has LP but his knees are not bothering him yet but when they do I will take care of them |
Since we're still in the puppy stage, it's more like every other month or so. I'm looking forward to just annual visits. |
I believe in annuals too. It is much better to do preventive. |
Yearly exam, but not blood work every year. Had baseline done when Keno was neutered and additional blood work as needed. I would do yearly or more if he had a condition that warranted it. So far that has not been the case. |
Yes, yearly exam, bloodwork, heRtworm testing, fecals, and urinalyses, generally... If they are there for a problem near the time their stuff is due then we just do it then. Dentals as needed. The girl is around her dogtor all the time though, so I always have random lumps and bumps checked. |
Thanks I have been and do believe in annual checkups and during the year when and if necessary. Since my Vet is a "JOKE" I am today trying a new Vet that one of my neighbors goes to (locally to me). I am getting her blood work a year early to check he out for Lyme Disease since my male Yorkie came up positive for it with his blood work this year. Both of them had their yearly check ups, which as I said is a very expensive joke in comparison to what you all are having done with your dogs. The vet I was using was of course just stealing money from me at my and my dogs expense. I will be trying new Vets till I can find one I can trust again. Thanks for your comments. Tinav |

Sure, surgery can be done cheap, but I'd have to wonder...are IV fluids not geing given? Gas anesthesia not heing used? Monitoring not being done? No dedicated person to focus Only on your pup's vials while under? Hospitals without xray or those who haven't upgraded to digital xray will be cheaper..but not better for the pet. I think onsite u/s is very important. Dental xray is necessary if we are going to start pulling teeth. Most places don't have it. I prefer endoscopy on site also. So it has to do with location, but also the standard of care that each owner expects. If they get great pricing and have done research, great! I know at some of these prices given my vet would not have a paycheck at the end of the week. |

I agree.. my sil always braged to me that it ONLY cost $99.99 to have her dog's teeth cleaned. I asked, with blood work ... got a blank look. Her pup passed away and I often wondered (to myself of course) if he had had reqular blood work would they have caught the problem?? she alos feed dog food from walmart. |

He will be 5 this yr so the first year obviously he was there for puppy vaccs, then again at 6 months for rabies, and to get fixed. Then at 1 year of age, he had to get the boosters. At 2, during that year, he ended up going for another issue so just had 'check up' then. I think last year was the first year I just decided to take him in for a yearly check-up because nothing had posed a reason to go to the vet at all so in November he had an annual physical where everything was perfect. Then this year in April he had a dental so had bloodwork before that too. Unless something warrants a visit, I don't plan on taking him in for the rest of 2013. And probably wouldn't until the end of 2014. But we'll see how that goes, haha |
My goal is to do annual wellness checks. It seems I'm at the vet every 3-6 months instead. :p every little thing that worries me gets checked. I like to know my little man is ok! |
