I'd keep up with moist food, and goat's milk diluted (if you don't have a puppy formula available). Her constipation could be from dry stool or lack of fiber. Any changes in food or environment can cause temporary problems, so make changes slowly.

Definitely don't let her go where any other dogs pass by. The threat of Parvo is very serious and deadly.

The risk of falling off bed or getting rolled on is also reason for concern. I kept my pups in a baby playpen near my bed at night until they were a little older. They had their cozy bed in there, plus room for food & water, and a pee pad.

What's the best way to safe guard her from getting parvo? I try to run the dogs away from my house but I know that she has to go out. So I'm worrying now that she might catch parvo.

Hi,

If there are dogs walking in the area outside your house then you shouldn't allow her on the ground as you are putting her at risk of parvo, it's highly contagious.

Can you use potty training pads inside the house for now? You could train her to potty outdoors when she is older and fully vaccinated.

You mentioned in an earlier post that she isn't drinking much, I had the same problem with mine her first few days at home. You could try warming the water or milk formula slightly, it might help. My puppy refused cold water but drank it warm no problem. You can also add liquid to your puppy's soft food to help increase her fluid intake.

She needs to go through the whole series of puppy vaccinations, plus some people feel wait another month or so after that to be fully immune. Until then, the best way to safe guard her is to not let her down on the ground where other dogs have been. You could also take a potty pad outside to put her on, but if she walks on the ground, she could be exposed. Ask your vet how common it is in your area.

Being that she is so young and tiny, Parvo could put her down very quickly.

The only problem with the puppy pad is that she doesn't sniff before she goes potty. She just goes we have a puppy pad in the house and have showed it to her but she never even goes near it. The soil in our yard is new, we put top soil down about 2 months ago. It came from a creek and I haven't seen any dog poop in our yard.

She went poop last night 2 times and just went about 15 min ago. So the pumpkin seemed to work. Do I keep feeding her the one teaspoon a day or stop now? She seemed to like it. She is also still eating really good but still not drinking a lot of water. She may drink 1 or 2 good times but I have to make her by playing in the bowl. Does she need to drink more or could she be getting enough moisture from the canned food and the tablespoon of milk replacement she gets a night? If she needs more what can I put in her water to make her like it.

And a question on Parvo. If the dogs the my neighbors have could infect my baby, wouldn't that's an they would be sick and die or can they be a carrier and never get sick. I'm trying to learn as much as I can. She is quickly becoming my baby and I would hate to lose her. We got her to use puppy pad two times last night. We moved it out in the open and I placed her on it and she sniffed walk right off it and peed. She just missed the pad. Then she peed the floor twice. Then we placed her on it and she pooped.

Update on Crimson. She is doing great and is spoiled rotten. She will be 8 weeks old tomorrow (July 4th) and I will start giving her Royal Canin Yorkshire 29. She is eating great and drinking just fine. The only problems that we are having is that she loves to bite. She will bite your toes, fingers, shoes, anything really that she can get. I have tried and tried to break her. I have put her toys in her mouth, I have yelped like a pup would do and she continues to bite. What other way can I break her.

Glad to hear she is doing well, apart from the biting. You can also try saying "No bite" when you give her something else to put her teeth on. Always take your hands and feet away when she nips. Fold your arms over your chest.

Max nipped my toes in the morning when we first would get out of bed. If he wouldn't quit, I put him back in his xpen to settle down.

If he was nippy when we played, and he didn't listen to "no bite," I would get up and walk away. Withdrawing attention usually has a big impact.
