She just turned 1 last week. I tried getting her to 3 lbs. before surgery, she just wasn't having it! I thought she would be (3lbs.), because she's been eating more than usual, like how kids are when they go through a growth spurt.

My vets have a smaller yorkie they treat, so I knew they'd do well with her in surgery. It was hard on her, and she let everyone know when she wasn't comfortable, but she did well over all.

I plan on waiting until she is close to a year. She is 6 months on Friday and as of last week, weighted 2.2. I am praying she gains weight and reaches 3 before the spay. She was estimated to be 4 lbs.....I don't think she is going to make it!

Mine was supposed to be 3.5 to 4 lbs. That's what the breeder told me. I remember saying, "Bigger will be better. I'm used to 15 to 20 lb. dogs!"

I'm so happy that Cinders came through her surgery ok. I'm still praying but now praying for a speedy recovery. Bless you and Cinders!!

Glad your little one came through the surgery okay. Lexi will ignore me too when she goes to the vet. She started it with her first shots. She hid behind the couch and didn't want anything to do with me. Hubby came home and she sat with him and then the next day she was a bit hesitant, but finally came around. She wasn't too happy with me.

My little girl got spayed on Wednesday as well. She is almost 8 months and weighs 2 pounds. I was sooo nervous!! They pulled 2 teeth too. She did well but now hates the e-collar :(!! She has already started jumping :(

I'm home with mine all day, so we didn't have to wear the collar except at night. ( That Thing is bigger than her!) I have a newborn/ premie onesies on her. Most of the time, its folded under itself, not snapped. That's to keep her from licking the incision before I see that she's going for it-I figure I'll have about 5 seconds to stop her if she tries to lick with that on. She really hasn't bothered the incision at all. But then again, she on pain meds and sleeps A LOT!

Yeah mine only wears hers at night as well but cries in her crate for a bit before she will go to bed which she never does! She has been sleeping a lot during the day but shes on pain meds as well. She comes to work with me everyday so I can keep an eye on her plus I cant leave her home as she has the worst separation anxiety I've ever seen!

Hi, I'm so glad Cinders is ok and home with you again. You must be so relieved it's all over with! I hope she continues to do well and recovers very quickly. She is such a cutie...any time I see a photo of her I just go "awwww"!

Mine's getting that. I went to the store for an hour and was told that she whined for 10 mins after I left.:eek: I've spoiled her a little too much maybe since the spay, but she deserves it!:D

I am SO glad it's over! She's small, and going under was a HUGE concern for me! ( what if they get it wrong? what if she doesn't wake after?) I was fine till that day.

LOL! Here's a pic of her after I was trying to fix her hair and gave up!

Poor little baby. I hope Cinders heals quickly. My vet uses butorphrenol for pain, and it made my dogs especially clingy and needy while taking it. I always saw a huge difference in how they act once they were off the medication. I think it's important to give them pain meds, but I was always so happy when they could be off of them.

Kaitlynx89, I hope your little girl gets better soon, too.
