Barking cure... I can't believe this. It absolutely works. Why didnt I know this years ago when I has six chihuahuas at one time??? I have to thank this site for a recommendation to use Pet Corrector as a training tool. I couldn't find it at my local pet supply store, but I did find Stop That!, which is also compressed air but with added pheromones.:thumbup: My home is blissful! I staged a knock at the door by my grandson, which would have elicited a frenzy of rapid, loud barking. I gave the command, "No, no bark!", and did a quick spray. Both dogs scooted away, but immediately came back quietly on reward voice w/o barking. Hours go by, I use the can once more. Again I stage another knock. Miss P opened up with one shirt bark, and all I did was make a hissing noise with my mouth and she immediately quieted down. In fact, the kids were playing loudly outside the door and both dogs were totally uninterested! It's like they needed that discipline to be able to relax and ignore the high energy that the children have. I'm very, very pleased. Anyone with a barking issue, you MUST try this! |
Is this at PetSmart? Sounds intresting. |
Yes, that's where I found it. In a purple box by Sentry. It's with the calming collars. |
I am going to have to try that mr barks a lot morgan |
I'm glad you found something that works for you. I'm going to look for this product. We have used the Pet Correcter with good results. When Max doesn't listen to the "quiet" command, we say "Do you want the 'horn'?" and we pick up the can. We don't have to actually use it because he stops barking. :p |
dog I have two yorkies and we are camping. They bark at other campers. Real annoying. I will try this. Thanks for sharing.the dogs will not bark but then i will need something for husband so he isnt annoyed. Ha |
I'm going to have to try this. My Anna goes nuts every time she hears a knock or a door bell, even if it's on tv. Last night a game show was on and every time the bell rang she went crazy. Thanks for sharing! |
I have not gone out and gotten it yet but since I was given the recommendation earlier this week it dawned on my last night that hey I have some compressed air(the kind to clean electronics). It does get his attention and makes him stop. Pet Corrector is cheaper than the electronics compressed air so I will be getting some this weekend. :D So anyway if you wonder if it's worth getting and have the electronics cleaner compressed air give that a try first. You don't spray it at them just spray it. I got Bentley's attention to stop barking from down the hall from the living room. |
I taught mine not to bark and that works fine, too. |
Update I don't even need the can now. If there is more than one or two barks all I have to do is make a quick "psst!!" Noise with my mouth and it immediately stops. Then I reward with lots of praise and a yummy food treat! |

I purchased a "spray" collar from Amazon. It sprays with a loud Psst when he barks. I've been using it periodically for about 3 days. I don't put it on him at night, only during the day for a short period of time periodically when cars or people draw his constant attention. Honestly, it's like I have a new dog. He does not bark. The spray startles him but doesn't harm him. |

I tell Bentley stop or no and he just looks at me like oh you gonna help? and keeps going. lol If I pick him up and remove him from the situation he does the silly bark/sneeze/grunt sound like he's barking under his breath because he's mad at me for taking me away from what he was barking at. At times he's like living with an 2 year old and other times like a grumpy old man. rofl |
This could very well be my savior, I am most definitely going to be looking for this!!!!! |
I so need this lately Daisy is barking all over again at everything its like she has decided to say Forget u Mom I am going to bark and ignore u!! lol |
I just ordered on Amazon for less than the Petco site. I can't wait to try it on my excessive barker. Thanks for the information. |
I'm gonna give it a try on my non-yorkie dogs. They bark at the wind!!! Hannah (Yorkie) only barks to get out of her kennel. Very proud of her as she is starting to understand that I will not leave her in it for long. Right now she looks at her barking buddies like they are crazy (love the little curious look she gives each one of them). Waiting for them to rub off on her as I'm sure they will. It gets really loud at my house!!!!!:animal36:animal36 |
I really, really am ecstatic with the results here. I can't wait for you all to post! It's very windy here today...shaking the storm doors and whistling. I have heard two small grumble/ growls. Truly incredible! |
I already had my husband run out to get one. In Canada they are sold at Canadian Tire for 10.99 :) Monty hasn't made a peep since we bought it so haven't had to try it yet. Is it wrong for me to be anticipating his first barking rampage to see if it really will work for us??? :) |

Mine just started barking at noises outside when it's dark out. So far, closing the front door stops her from barking, but when summer Really sets in, and the door has to be open I'll have to try this! Thanks for letting us know!!!! |
This sounds really great! I may pick some up. We don't have terrible barking except when someone comes to the door. Sounds like it's time to experiment! LOL |
My barker stopped barking when we got a new puppy. It's a little more expensive than Pet Corrector. But hey...it worked! |
Galen barks when I first come dowm in the morning. He hears my footsteps. I can not even go to the bathroom before I go in the kitchen. He does not do it to my DBF. Just me. Or when go outside to grab something. Bark bark bark. |

I did not want to appear too optimistic with this recommendation but did go out immediately and purchased a can of Pet Corrector. That was last Thursday and after this amount of time, I just have to say...IT IS FREAKING INCREDIBLE!!! The reaction to the noise was immediate, one short blast and the barking ceased immediately, Monty no longer goes crazy barking at every sound like he did less than a week ago, we can now mimic the noise of the compressed air if the can is not readily available and he reacts to that as well!! I am so impressed with the results!! We had a yard party on the weekend with about 30 people present at any given time and not a sound out of Monty even as people entered the yard. Tons of comments that he is not even like the same dog at all in more ways than just the barking. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! |
This is so encouraging! I ordered a can last week from Amazon and it is being delivered today. This makes me hopeful for a peaceful evening. :) |
thanks for the advice, my little guy is a barker and even when I tell him no, he sits and makes intermittent little semi barks like a naughty child |
Yay! I am so happy it's working so well for you too! Mine are absolutely different dogs. NO frenzied barking! I may get one or two barks if someone knocks, but as soon as I make the "pssst" sound all is quiet! And I reward them then, so now I find I am getting much more eye contact and attentiveness in whatever the circumstance. It's wonderful!! |
