All Groomed and Summer Ready! So I decided that I was going to let Lexi's hair grow and keep her ponytail. But, after the first really hot day, I felt so sorry for her that I made the appointment. I just kept thinking of how I would feel if I had to walk around in a coat in 90 degrees. I also hated when her hair fell in her eyes. It has to be uncomfortable. So, what about the ponytail...with or without?? Her first grooming was when she was about 7 months and I didn't want to cut much off so, well you'll see. This time, at 8 1/2 months, she's sporty ready for the Summer. I've included the before and after... Picture 1 - Before her first grooming Picture 2 - After her first grooming, but her bangs just wouldn't stay put. Picture 3 - Same as above Picture 4 - On our way to the groomers and you can see why. It's only a couple of hours after the above pic was taken. Hot Mess! |
4 Attachment(s) The images didn't attach so I'm trying again... |
4 Attachment(s) Picture 5 - Going in Petsmart for her second groom. The rest are after her second grooming at Petsmart. The first grooming was at her vet. |
Lexi's new hairstyle turned out really cute! She is adorable and ready for summer fun. |
Lexi looks adorable with her new haircut!:aimeeyork |
4 Attachment(s) Sorry there are so many! Most of them are after the second day when she had to have another bath. I turned my back for a quick second and when I turned back she was rolling in something that stunk up to high heaven! So, now she's short and curly. I love her! |
she is very cute!! I can't stand it!!!! Only 4 more Saturdays, and I'll be getting my baby........ |
What a cutie! |

Oh my goodness......she is a doll! |
Thanks everyone. I'm so glad her ponytail is gone. It would look so cute...for the first 5 minutes. She seemed happiest when there were strands of hair touching her eyeballs. As soon as I'd take the band off her hair for her morning brush/comb she would take her paw, place it on top of her head, and slowly and deliberately drag her hair down into her face. Her toenails weren't engaged at all, and she only did the drag thing once, so I know she wasn't scratching. Ridiculous! Now, it’s so strange in the morning. I comb her for an extra long time, even though there’s not much there. I’m really just going over the same spots. I know she’s had it with me and the comb and brush! |
I felt the same way with our dogs. They looked so cute with their long hair we hated to groom them but like you I felt so bad for them in the hot weather. We have a yorkie, a shorkie and two shih tzus all with thick hair especially the shih tzus. Yes cute is cute but their comfort and well being comes first. By the way Lexi is a doll with and without her long hair. |
Lexi is such a doll!! :) Thank you for posting all of the pictures. Jasper has his first grooming on Friday I've been a nervous wreck all week. He looks like the very first picture you posted. But seeing how well her cut turned out makes excited for Jasper to get his done, too. I just hate leaving him there. Is he going to feel like I abandoned him? I know he will be so scared. Ugh I am driving myself nuts. Am I the only one who does/has been this way over grooming? |
