5 pit bulls My new neighbors that live behind us have 5 pit bulls all chained to trees in there back yard. Im not so worried about my yorkies but I have cats that go outside that I worry about. Why would anyone need 5 pitbulls if they are all chained to trees anyway. Im keeping an eye on them for sure If i see them running loose Im calling animal control anything else I can do |
Most places have laws about keeping animals chained, I believe. I think they have to be penned, not tied, but I am thinking this due to watching Animal Cops a lot on animal planet. I would be concerned, too. I realize that a pit bull is not inherently mean, that they are as good as the people raising them intend for them to be, but 5???? That just sounds hinky... |

I can't let my Huey outside because the neighbor next door has approx 60 cats, about 10 or 12 of which are feral and live outside, which includes my backyard. They are all bigger than Huey. We worked with our local animal control and trapped about 9 cats that were in our yard over the space of 2 weeks and took them to animal control, but they reproduce more and it is a losing battle. Unfortunately, this neighbor has "connections" so although we have had AC inspect their property & cite them, nothing will ever actually be done to them. On the other hand, the wife has threatened my dog and says if she can ever catch him, I will never see him again. Point of this story...I understand your fear and frustration. |

I feel sorry for the poor dogs being chained to trees. That's a good reason in itself to call animal control. I agree it sounds suspicious that they have 5. Poor things Genea |
I feel sorry for those dogs, too. Do they have food, shelter, water? I wonder if animal control could come and take them? If they are tame and loving, they could be adopted or rescued. If they are feral, they are a danger to your area for animals and humans alike. How can people get pets and then chain them to trees for their living environment and think it's okay????I have never understood that. To me it's cruel!! Okay, off my soap box now. |
I am very sorry that you are in this position. Why do these people want these 5 dogs if they are just going to chain them to trees in the yard? :( |
These are not pets. 10:1 these are fighting dogs. Nobody chains 'pets' to trees. Do they have a treadmill in the yard for the dogs? Are the dogs muscled up like they're on steroids? I would be super careful of this situation. |
My gosh, how could any one responsibly take care of 60 cats......NOT. Why would any one get a dog only to tie/chain it outside, let alone five. Anyone with any kind of common sense would know these poor animals would become problems/threats for neighbors and animals. However, these kind of people, I believe, are selfish and do NOT care about others or their pets. They care about themselves only. We had a neighbor that had a beautiful Rotti in his very over grown back yard. They would never come out and give him any attention at all. Went for days with out food or water. Of course, we had the authorities involved, but this poor dog died. Too many times, just like the lady with the 60 cats, the authorities even when they are called and called and called will not remove these poor animals. I am not saying this always happens and that we should not call, this is just what happened in my situation. I felt so bad for this beautiful Rotti. I would reach through the fence and feed him, he was a lovely dog. |

this is the type of situations that makes me so very sad and mad The poor Rotti... that just breaks my heart. They only want to love us... As for the pitties... that type of treatment is what could make them mean. I agree with kjc --there is more to the story. If they are fighting dogs I would guess the owners are not --well-- people I would want as friends or mad at me. Be careful..report but in a way they can't trace to you. We have the "cat" problem here also.. not as bad.. but there are groups that will alter the cats for free so they don't breed. A long time ago there were wild cats in my yard and I fed them because I thought I was doing the right thing. I know that it is better to catch and alter. |
60 cats, 5 chained up pits, such neglect makes me so mad. Be careful reporting this and make sure they can't trace it back to you. Maybe say you were in the neighborhood visiting friends and saw it. That you are just a concerned animal lover. |
