3 Attachment(s) Peanut’s hair grows pretty fast. I get him cut ¼” on his body and then a short puppy cut face.. The picture of him on the bed was taken today. The other 2 were about 2 almost 3 months ago. |
I wondered if what you are hearing called a "double coat" could be a reference to some yorkies having a cottony coat? It's just a thought but I could see why someone looking at a yorkie (and not really knowing the breed) would consider it a "double coat". Just my thought. |

Yorkies have only a single coat, but cutting the hair does nothing but make it shorter. It will grow back. So, cut it...grow it out...cut it again in a different style...your choice, or whatever makes your Yorkie comfortable. With shorter hair, your Yorkie may need warmer clothes in winter, but even with longer coats, my Yorkies appreciate their clothes when it's chilly weather. There are cute Yorkie hairstyles you can check out at: Yorkie Hair Styles Several here have had 'not so great' grooming experiences, so to be as 'safe' as possible, be sure to make your wishes known, and take a photo with you, to the groomer...and be very specific with any instructions. :) |
4 Attachment(s) I cut Katie's hair a few weeks ago. She was getting every twig, leaf, and sticky caught in her hair, and she plays so hard outside, and I knew it was hot for her. She has very thick, silky hair, which under normal conditions is not difficult to care for, but I knew she was miserable having to stop playing each time to get things out that were caught in her hair. Katie jumps in a baby pool every few minutes while playing, so her short hair has made it so much easier for her. I know Katie loves her new haircut. I've attached photos taken the weekend before I cut Katie's hair and one that I took this weekend with her short hair. She looked like a dustmop playing. I had just combed it not long before, and she had had a bath that morning, so I thought the photos looked really funny. |
