She is a little doll baby!! Genea |
Your dog is gorgeous btw! Just for reference, my 9 year old is about 4.5lbs. Perfectly healthy. What I judge her weight by is this. Feel her rib cage, and trace your hand back towards her butt. If her stomach/gut extends past the rib cage as far as size, she might need to drop a bit of weight. I hope to be corrected if I am wrong, but from what I have seen from my experience with these dogs for the last 12+ years, if the gut is even to the rib cage you have a very healthy yorkie. :) If you feel your way backwards and the gut is wider than the rib cage, you might want to cut down the food a bit. Or, if opposite and the back end is skinnier than the rib cage, you might want to up the feeding. My girl's back end (from the rib cage back) is even with the rib cage and the vet said she was in perfect condition. |
So... on our way to the appointment, baby Leilani got carsick :( .Thankfully, when we arrived, they cleaned her up. She weighed in at 2.15lb and completely healthy!!! She received dewormer and another booster. Sadly, the vet couldn't prescribe anything for her motion sickness since she is so small. I know diphenhydramine and Dramamine are safe to use, but do they actually work? |
So happy that she received a great report! I know what a load off of your mind that is. :) I hate she got car sick, though. :( Jasper got car sick the first day we picked him up. But the breeder had not fed him anything before we arrived either. He hasn't gotten car sick since. I always make sure he has eaten a little something about 30 minutes before we leave. Maybe you can try that. Again, so happy on the vet visit!! |
Oh Mylanta......your little girls is the most precious puppy! So happy to hear that all went well at the vet and that she is as healthy as can be. Enjoy your little bundle of joy! |
What a sweetie. She looks healthy to me. Love the belly. :D |
It is great news! She is such a cutie pie! :) |

I think it was mentioned above, but the best thing to do is try to keep it a calm setting when having to go for a ride. No big production. Anxiety is usually the biggest cause of car sickness. Also, get her a car seat that has the view high enough to see out the window. That helps. And, make sure not to give food within an hour of having to ride. I'm happy she got some meds and seems to be a very good weight :) |
One of my friends has a large dog that would drool excessively and get dry heaves, so this is what she got and it works beautifully!! EasyTravel Solution? - Prevent Air and Car Sickness in Dogs and Cats |
