Bella in for her first grooming!
 
I just got back from dropping Bella off at the groomer's for her first haircut. I'll post a review, and before and after photos after we get her back. We told them to do a puppy cut face, short hair on the body, and long on the legs (if they don't have to be shaved due to matting). I told my partner that she'll probably come back with her whole body shaved down to the skin and a mohawk on the top of her head, LOL :D. My partner said that if Bella gets a bad haircut, he'll hold down the groomer and give her the same haircut. Please pray for a good haircut for little Bella.

OMGoodness...you are cracking me up!! :D Please do post pictures. Jasper goes next week and I'm already a nervous wreck. :p

Fortunately, the groomer said that since Bella is a puppy, they will keep her there the shortest time possible, and we may be able to pick her up in 2 hours. We left her food and her favorite toys, and they said they would give her water and potty her as needed. I'm not too worried. I've read horror stories about first haircuts and seen some photos of bad haircuts, so I expect the best (because this is a reputable groomer with lots of experience), but I'm prepared for the worst.

A lot of Yorkies are getting their first haircuts either today or soon. We'll have to have a convo of reviews and before and after photos in the Photos forum! :love:

She was at the groomer's for 4 hours, and they put a little bow in her hair, and my partner says she looks adorable, but he's afraid Bella will pull the bow out before I get a chance to see it or photograph it. The groomers said that she was a sweetie. I'm heading home now, so pictures will be coming soon!

I just took all three of my guys to the Groomer yesterday $$$ ! :eek:

Since I take mine out Hunting and into rough areas so often, I have them all clipped to a #7 body (about 1/4" length) through the Summer months.

They get LOTS of petting. That new growth coat is SO slick and petable ! :D

How adorable! Can't wait to see! Glad she was such a good girl, too! It's always nerve racking to anticipate how they will be when they go for their haircuts as puppies!


Our groomer told us to wait until Jack can no longer see and then bring him lolol. I don't know how much longer he can wait though...he's starting to pant in this 95 degree weather and all his fluff might be too much for his reputation as a cool dude. lolol.

I just got the before and after pictures uploaded, and I have to say that I am very pleased with my groomer!!! I thought she looked beautiful before, but man, what a transformation! Unfortunately, she got her pink bow off before I could take her picture, so now she looks like she has a topknot, but even so, she's spectacular! What amazes me the most is her color transformation. After they cut off her black hair, she was a beautiful silver/gray underneath.

For all of you living in east-central Illinois, I got her hair cut at Pampered Pet Grooming in Champaign, Illinois. The workers were fawning all over her and taking their own pictures, and they said that she was a good little girl during the whole procedure. That's amazing to me, because she will hardly let me brush her, LOL! :) Without further ado, here are her before and after photos...

OMGoodness! What a transformation and she is just adorable with her new "do"! I expect Princess Sophie to loose all her dark hair when I get her trimmed shorter but for now we are just enjoying her hair how it is with very minimal trims now and then. LOL

Your pup is gorgeous!!!! Congrats!!

She's so gorgeous. Love her little ears. That bow is off so now she looks like she has spiked hair on top of her head. Ha! Too adorable!

Thanks! Do you think you will bring her in to Pampered Pet in Champaign, or do you have a groomer in Clinton? I HIGHLY recommend Pampered Pet. Anyway, please post pictures before and after Princess Sophie is groomed for the first time--those are photos you will value your entire life :).

If you're worried or it's been longer than they told you, go ahead and give them a call. Please post photos of Gilbert in your thread after he's back from the groomer's!

Oh no, I got the wrong dog! (Just kidding!!!!! ;)) It's definitely Bella--she still has all of her same quirks and idiosyncrasies :). Her ears are beginning to stand up a little more. I told the groomer to trim the hair on the ears but not to shave them completely because they said that at her age, if they were shaved, it might create too much irritation, so I think they did the right thing. The spike on her head is hilarious! :D I saved the bow for just in case I want to fight her to put it back on, but I know she'd have it off again in a second.

She is GORGEOUS!!:D Jasper has a lot of light coloring at his roots. Looks like he needs a die job :eek: I'm so excited to see how he turns out now. Just have to remember to do a before picture like you did. Again, she is a doll and doesn't look traumatized either. Did she eat while she was there?

I brought her food and water bowl with me, as well as her food and favorite toys, but I forgot to ask if she ate. She was there a total of 4 hours. She was not traumatized at all, and is back to her normal self--eating, drinking, and pottying normally. Be sure to get a before picture of Jasper because once the black hair is gone, it's gone--I know you will be pleased with the transformation :).

Bella is adorable I love the new cut! It is wonderful when you find a groomer that knows how to groom a yorkie correctly isnt it

Absolutely! When her hair grows out again, we're going to go for a Schnauzer cut :).
