Why is everyone bringing??? Why is everyone bringing back all the old threads. I want the new ones and I don't like to see all the old ones. :thumbdown:thumbdown |
Just check the date and skip it....people browse old posts and read threads that interest them...and somehow, they bring them "back to life" and people write updated, pertinate information on them, or ask more questions. |
I asked the same question..... |

It's a pity the start date isn't listed right along with the thread title & name of the member that started the thread. I don't like wasting time having to open a thread to view the date & then see that it's years old. |

Who cares if a thread is old? If good information is shared on a thread, information that is topical and relevant or maybe even has updates on it relative to whatever the subject of the thread, what in the world does it matter the date of the original thread? I and others have posted information on old threads simply because it was showing up in New Posts and people would be clicking on it contemporaneously. No one is made to read or post on an old thread so maybe those that don't like them can ignore them and move on. And it's kind of interesting to read through some of those old ones of many pages through the years as they grow and then see how postings on them ebb and flow over the years and even who all posted on them along the way. That's why they are still here and left open I guess - to read and possibly learn from, add to or ignore as we please. |
True but it depends on the thread also. |

The thread pops up on NEW POSTS....so you click on it...because there's no date listed by the title :( so you don't know it's OLD....ANCIENT...often posted by non-active or no-longer a member types....just to find out you been suckered into clicking on an OLD, ANCIENT thread. Bait & switch....that's just wrong  |
Or if you don't happen to notice the date and spend time and thought posting something that wouldn't be relevant 2 yrs later. JMO |
All of 30secs of your life wasted. What's the big deal? |
I am not trying to be mean or rude I just wanted to know why all the old ones were coming up. :( |

I know I have accidentally bumped an old thread at least once before. I had googled for some information and, not surprisingly, found a good link back here. I started reading, put down my phone, and came back later. I certainly do not feel bad about any petty annoyances that may have arisen from my apparent faux pas. I frequently find myself thinking that so many people online must have the best of lives if they have the time and energy to be upset about something so benign. :) |
It was an honest mistake on her part so no big deal |

Ain't nobody got time for that!!! :D |
I never thought of it as "sneaky". I just never thought of any threads on here as particularly sneaky because they were old. I've gotten some good information from very, very old threads and was happy to see those sneaky old things at the time I learned what I did. But if you post by mistake and find it's not timely once you see the date, we've all been there. Still, most of the advice, opinions or information given is timeless whether for the thread OP's dog or any dog, given similar circumstances. |

I'm glad whoever found something here and felt enough to post on it... |
I post on a lot of forums and many of them will merge a topic if a new post has been started when there has already been a post on that topic, so I know a lot of forum posters (across the whole internet) are wary of starting new threads for fear of being told off. In a lot of forums starting a new post when one already exists for that topic is frowned upon. I found this forum and I'm sure many other who post here now by google searching a topic and then finding an old post here jam packed full of information and then lept on in and posted to ask for an update or further information. I don't see the problem. meh. |

As someone who is still a relative newby to the site, I sometimes appreciate the older threads being brought up, because they are new to me. I've learned some valuable info, had a few good laughs, and even gotten myself into a snit over some of them. It's all good. As far as multiple threads on the same topic? If we made a drinking game just out of the food questions, we'd all stay tanked 90% of the time, LOL! |
I think the old threads hold lots of great information |

BTW, isn't this thread beginning to get a little... old?:lol tears |
It's scary when I find a newly replied to old thread and I check the last post and it's a newby asking for help! |
