| 8 x 7 = 56 My age exactly!!! No, little Miss Mini is NOT a senior, and neither am I.....!!!!! With Rosie our Labrador, the vet told us to put her onto 'senior food' at age 10....of course a different breed altogether, but similar lifespan. You'll know when to do it - when her bus pass arrives Poor little Cock Sparrer, being called nasty names..... Sally + Harry x |

| My vets office starts doing the yearly senior blood panel at 6. But small dogs age slower then big dogs.

| I thought seniors were 10 and over...Do they get applications like from the canine ARP? CARP??? LOL!! Your vet will probably let you know. I'm sure that at 8 yrs old (young), she has a few more years to wait on filling out the paperwork!!

| This is so weird. My husband and I were just this past minute talking about how old does our babies have to be to be labeled a senior. Zada is only 7 and he thought she was already and I said I think about 12 for the tiny dogs, but maybe 6 or 7 for the large breeds. With great care and health, they should live to be 18 years old or more, so maybe age for seniors isn't set in stone now days!

| I think for yorkies it's about 9-10 years.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | For Yorkies I would say a senior begins at 7 to 8 yrs old. Average lifespan of 15 yrs or so.

| Senior I was told by my vet that they were senior at age 8. At that age she had to get the annual Senior panel. Sadly in spite of the tests she passed at 11.5 years old several years ago. |

| Mini seems to be sleeping more and lazier...she of course has many issues, and I just wonder...she is my baby girl and I adore her...Having Vinnie made me reflect on Mini when she was a puppy! She was so funny and cute but the poor girl had 2 major surgeries Eye surgery at 4 months, poor thing had so many stitches...then at 8 months she had the Legges Perthes on both sides...she has CT, LP and allergies like I can't describe. She is on a lot of medicines and ehhhhh...I just worry sometimes... Thanks for the answers!
