It looks like MA is a six month state. Lucky ducks! If that has not changed then you can wait quite a bit longer. |
Hmm so why would my vet want to vaccinate her so young? I just googled what my states laws are & it does say 6 months. It does go on to say MA state rabbies laws are unique RABIES LAWS IN THE UNITED STATES as of 6/16/10 |

Leptospirosis in Dogs How They Catch It, How We Cure It, How We Prevent It |
I am very happy to hear that Bella is back to herself. We opted not to do Lepto vaccines. Many articles I read said that the vaccine covers only 4 strains, and there are many more out there. Some sources say that the vaccine has to be given every 6 months to be truly effective even against that small number of strains. The risk of Lepto is scary, so definitely a discussion to have with your vet. |

Lepto ... I remember on Jasper's first vet visit he looked at her shot record from the breeder and told his assistant he was surprised she had given that to the pups at such an early age. Good to know. Next yorkie (and there will be another) will come from a different breeder. Beth, I'm so glad that Bella is doing much better.:) I can imagine how worried you were. Made me take Jasper and cover him with kisses....much to his dislike at the time. He was playing with Piper the cat and I interrupted :D |

I got my puppy vaccinated for rabies at 16 weeks and the vet said it best to have no other shots given on the same visit. The next day i carelessly told my little zoey for a walk and after he came home she could not stand on her back legs. She began shaking and even pee on her bed. I call the vet who suggested i give her a little honey to see if she perked up. She still was not back to normal so i took her in. The said most likely her blood sugar dropped because she only ate in the morning. Long and scary story short i suggest you know all the side affects and make sure you are able to be with your puppy after he/she gets her shots. Also have the number to a 24 hr vet. I was extremely worry at the time, but she is better now. |
