Barney is getting a sister 1 Attachment(s) OK. I finally talked DH into getting a friend for Barney. I had looked at several different ads for a female puppy. After reading the information posted on this site and researching breeders, we decided to look for a rescue pet. I found Lana and have been talking with her foster mom. We are meeting next week. It looks like Barney will be getting an older sister and I am so excited. I am a little nervous because she has been used as a breeder dog (she's only 4 pounds and lucky she lived through having puppies). The lady that I talked to from the shelter said she felt that she has probably been in a cage for most of her 5 to 6 years. I am sure I will be asking for lots of advice. Isn't she beautiful? |
She is beautiful. Im glad you guys are saving a life. She is gong to be a happy finally!! |
Oh my gosh! You are so amazing for taking this little lady in. She is gorgeous!! She will give you so much love. |
Thanks but I am not amazing. I actually bought two yorkies, one of which I am sure was from a "greeder". After looking at the youtube videos posted earlier this week, it made me sick to think of what my puppy's momma was put through. She is beautiful and her foster mom has sent several other pictures. I am a little nervous about making her comfortable. We are waiting until next week for her transition since I will be out of school for the summer. I am a preschool teacher. I am hoping that 3 months will give her time to adjust to us. |
Lana is so tiny and adorable. Thank you for rescuing her and giving her a loving home she sounds like she really deserves it |
She is adorable! Congratulations to you, Barney, and your husband. :) |

Being home and having a lot of time like that - perfect timing. She is going to thrive in you and your family's care. I have no doubt at all! |
Lucky you.....Congratulations! :cheer: |
She is precious! It makes me so happy that she will finally have a good life Genea |
What a beautiful girl :) Thank you for rescuing her! |
What a beauty. Rescues can steal your heart so fast. They do require lots of love and attention at first but they are so receptive to it. God bless you for taking her in. |
She is adorable! Patience will pay off handsomely! Be tolerant of her adjustment phase, and she will come around and be a wonderful addition to your loving family! Such a beautiful little lady! |
Thanks for all of the encouragement. I feel like I have struck gold. I cannot wait to go get her. I have actually been looking at her picture off an on all evening. To me, she does not look like a full blooded yorkie. I feel that there is a mix. However, it also looks like she has had a bit of a rough grooming. I am reading as much as I can to try to be prepared for her. My main concern is that she has been in a cage for so long. Her foster mom said that she is scared of walking in the yard. I am not sure what we will do about house training her. Her foster mom also said she likes to sit and cuddle. Yeah!!! Barney doesn't like this and I have been missing it so much since our dear Charlie died. |
That's exciting. Congratulations she is adorable. |
She is absolutely adorable! What a nice addition to your family!! |
That is wonderful news. She is adorable. She is going to finally have a home ! |
It feels like next Thursday is going to take forever to get here. I ordered her some dresses from Amazon today. |

Bless you for giving this adorable little girl a home. I hope you have many happy years together. |
awwwwwwwwwww she is adorable. |
You might encounter a few problems with your little rescue Yorkie, but you will never regret giving her a loving home. For the past 15 years I have adopted 5 rescue Yorkies. Rosie had been confined in a house and bred. Had never been outside. She was 10 when we had her and 18 when we had her put to sleep last year, she was so loving, and was great pals with Casper another rescue we had, but when she encountered another dog outside she would go into a frenzy. I wish you and your little rescue well. |
Thanks, gypsymolly. I hope to be able to come to you for advice when we get her. I am trying to prepare everything so that her adjustment will go a little more smoothly. But I really have no idea what to expect. Her foster mom said that her biggest issues are the house breaking and that she cries when she is put down. Honestly, my husband and I are kind of happy to be getting a girl that wants to be held. Sweet little Barney is not a lap dog unless he's dog tired. |
She looks like a wee darling. I hope you are all very happy together. |
she is so cute// she is so lucky to have you |
