Should i take it? So I was offered a full-time position at my job. I currently only work 4 hours 4 days a week. If I accept this offer I will be workng 8 hours (6:30-3 or 7-3:30pm) a day. Now the problem is I will be picking up my yorkie june 8th. I am terrified to leave her home alone for so long :( is it safe for them to be home alone that long? Everyone at work angers me because their immediate response is "put her in her crate" I tell them...would you like to sit in a small room for 8 hours where all you can do is turn around? I am not using her crate for that purpose. In fact, i'm not sure why i even have a crate anymore lol |
honestly at the baby age 8 hours may be to long alone. can ask them to give you a few weeks at the same hours beforer you start ft to get the baby on a schedule and such. are you able to go home at lunch?? or maybe a pet sitter to come by and spend a couple of hours each day..just thoughts wishing you the best luck with your decision. |

Do you have a playpen....an ex-pen for your baby when you bring her home? Has your breeder trained your puppy to play in her playpen? Hopefully, she has....you certainly do not want a young puppy to have free roam of the house....these little imps can get into toooo much trouble! Most people work, so it is not unusual for them to leave their babies in their playpen during the day while they are at work. Hopefully, your baby is at least 12 weeks old, so leaving her in a playpen or an expen with her food and her toys and her little bed, is not going to traumatize her! When you get home, you make a big deal out of the time you spend together, until it is bed time.....she will fall right into the cycle of events, learning your schedule, and it will work out great.....she will be fine! You can leave the TV onin the room where her playpen is, and the noise on there will keep her mind occupied.... |

This may be a stupid question but is there any chance you could take your baby to work with you? I know at least one person I've read has done that. Another idea would be if you know someone who would be willing to take your puppy in while you are at work? Just thinking... |
When does the full time position take effect. Perhaps you can accept it with a clause that you have booked a vacation for the couple of weeks after you get the dog. I work full time and took 2 weeks holiday to spend with the new pup when I got him and the two days I couldn't be home with him I gave him everything he needed in the expen that I bought. Take the job, you can afford more fabulous things for the new pup that way hehehe |

Working is not an issue. It would be if this puppy is less than 12 weeks. Which, by the way, my coworker just brought home a 5 week old puppy. It has worked out fine so far. Her main issue is biting. That's more due to the age at which she was seperated from her mom and littermates. She is not traumatized and is adjusting fine although there are challenges. At 13 weeks, your baby will be much better prepared to be on her own. I know you don't trust anyone with her, but what about your mom or brothers checking in on her to make sure she's clean, has water, and food but not remove her from her pen. I don't fully trust my parents either, but they make sure Kaji has a clean piddle pad and water before they leave for the day. (I leave at 7:30 they leave 10 am and 1 PM) When you get home, it's baby's time. Playtime, basic obedience, trick training, etc. this will give you a tired baby at night. If you can do the same before work, she'll nap all day. Most of our babies nap all day while we are at work. |

Will the opportunity for full time happen again? Or is this a one time thing? |
I honestly don\'t think it is fair for a 13 week old puppy to be home alone all day with no one checking on her. If you take the job I really feel you need to find someone to check in on her at the least once a day. She would be way to lonely in my opinion. |
