I made the choice today and went with the Trupanion (Canada) for Enzo's pet insurance coverage. I feel a sense of relief that he will be covered should something happen to him. I will be paying $50.68 a month with a $150. deductible. Expensive, but well worth it for us. I like the fact there is no limit for accident or illness, most other insurance in Canada has aggregate limits. I hope this is a policy I NEVER have to collect on :) Thank you Puppy Mommas for your guidence and suggestions :animal-pa |
IMO good choice that's who i'm with, as I stated earlier. Since I have three, I felt I needed something in case anything came up...also praying I never have to use it. Just some peace of mind for me. |

The statement about trupanion never raising their premiums for the life of the dog is BS. They raised the premium the beginning of the second year. I called and the said everyone that lived in my zone had a raise. That is why I am not with them now. |
Insurance Glad you were able to wade through all the policies and come up with the best one for you. And like you, hope you will not need to use it. As for the cost going up with time. Mine did go up once but has been constant ever since, in spite of much use! I have never had any problems with claims. I think it is true that they had a reassessment of different areas and adjusted the cost as a one time (or at least rare) thing. SoCal is a very high cost area for vets, tests and procedures. I have a friend who got TP insurance after the raise and hers never increased at all in future years. I do not mind that much as it means the company will remain solvent hopefully! |
Wow quick update on my Embrace insurance policy for Bentley. Yesterday I faxed Bentley's orthopedic report card to remove the standard 6 month orthopedic claims waiting period. (Bentley's vet gave him all A's :D ) Along with that I sent in the receipt for his neutering since spayed/neutered pets get a small discount. I got word on the policy changes as well as a note in the e-mail stating "Please give Bentley a tummy rub from all of us!" In addition to that even though I did not send in a claim to be filed, they actually tried to process a claim for his neutering and made a decision on that. It was not covered of course because I did not opt to have wellness coverage. I just thought it was cool that even thought I sent it to underwriting, and there was no claim form attached they forwarded it to claims to attempt to process. Also the turn around time was incredible. Hope I don't need to ever submit a claim, but think I will be totally happy with Embrace. |
