Also Most reputable breeders require that you take the puppy to the vet the day you get it for a "wellness check" to make sure that your vet agrees with the promised status of the puppy. All of this should be stipulated in the detailed contract your breeder has you sign when you pick up the puppy and pay for it. |

Please don't judge or bully anyone before you actually know! This is a very disappointing conversation I have just read through. You woman have all made judgments without even truly knowing the situation that is not very fair to anyone. I am the owner of teacuppartiyorkies.com I would never in a million years let any of my dogs suffer. I would never breed a female that was not vet checked and given the go ahead by my vets. All of my dogs that are bred are health tested and vet checked before ever considering breeding. How many puppy mills do you know that spend hundreds of dollars every month to keep there Yorkies in full coat? Do any of my dogs look abused or sad in there pictures? Do they look sickly or neglected? NO! That's because our dogs are part of our family. They are not just to make a quick buck. Yes we are a breeder and yes we do breed but is that a problem? It's the greatest joy to have a litter and see how much joy that little baby can bring to there new family and how loved they are from the first day. I offer a great health guarantee! I am very selective to who I sell to and I require that if for any reason they can't keep the puppy at any age it comes back to me. As for there is no such thing as an Akc teacup??? That is just a name that is used for a dog under 4 pounds. Not everyone wants a Yorkie that's 5+ pounds. There are many breeders breeding runts and un-healthy teacups to try to get the smallest dog they can and that's not what I do. I breed healthy true tiny Yorkies both mom and dad are tiny and produce true healthy teacup puppies. There is no problem in this. I don't risk anyone's life. My vets have both said you can artificially breed a teacup dog with a Great Dane and the pups will only get as big as her Uterus will allow. She will be able to deliver safely and the pups will grow bigger after they are born. C-sections can happen in any size dogs. If you are a good breeder you plan on a c-section every litter you breed. I am there for every birth. I help each mom deliver and make it as easy on her as possible. If there is ever a problem the first thing that happens is i go to the vet. " A puppy mill kills the mom and cuts the babies out if they even know there is a problem before she is dead. " I am completely fine with everyone having there own opinion but to get on a Yorkie gossip site and bash anyone when you don't really know the situation you just got on a website and decided to judge that person and go to the extreme of calling them a puppy mill is not ok. I wouldn't want to see that happen to anyone. Any of you are welcome to come to my house or the houses of the families that have any of my dogs and come see for yourself that we are not a puppy mill. Your also welcome to talk to my groomer and ask her about my dogs Or your welcome to talk to my vets and ask them if I am risking my girls life by breeding them. Just please don't do this to other breeders before you really know a little respect for one another is all i ask. THANK YOU! |
I'd like to make a couple of points, then I'm done with this thread. The decision on my part has been made mostly because the points most people are making on this thread are just not true. 1. She's not running a puppy mill. The dogs she owns live with her in her house. They are spoiled rotten. They are groomed regularly, fed top of the line food and are loved by her and her family. These are pets, not caged animals. I've seen it. I've been there. Do these dogs in the pictures look like they live in a cages? I've seen it first hand, they live on a couch or doggy bed and have free run of her house. Also, she doesn't have all these dogs at her house. Some of them are owned by family of hers or close personal friends. 2. She offers a year money back guarantee for any reason and stipulates right of first refusal, meaning if I decide to get rid of the dog, she gets first choice at taking her back. 3. She spends hundreds of dollars per month getting her dogs groomed. The truth is always somewhere in the middle but many of you are "doomsdayers" and think this is like Vietcong prisoner of war conditions. It's not. It's probably better you not go off on people until you know the truth. I appreciate those of you who say keep an eye out for "these red flags" and say what to look for and not look for in a breeder. Trust me, I've done months of research looking for the right dog. There's no way in hell I would buy a dog from a puppy mill or prisoner of war camp. I chose this breeder because I felt she truly bred dogs based on health of the parents and love for the dog. I got the feeling from other people selling dogs locally that they'd had a litter of dogs so they could make a few bucks. These were what I call "hobby" breeders or people that have a litter occasionally from the same two dogs because they think it's fun and could use the money. This particular lady doesn't really need the money but she does enjoy the breed, her dogs and helping other people. That's my sense. I'm done. |
I am glad you asked and got the opinions of experienced people. I would never support a breeder like this. I wish you luck with your puppy. |
I myself would be a little skeptical, however I have not been there to see what is going on. If you feel comfortable with your decision then I wish you luck and happiness with your new baby girl. Hopefully we will be able to see pictures! |
"My vets have both said you can artificially breed a teacup dog with a Great Dane and the pups will only get as big as her Uterus will allow. She will be able to deliver safely and the pups will grow bigger after they are born." WHOA, I don't want to hurt any feelings here, but as a breeder you should know, without having to consult a Vet, that breeding a Great Dane with a teacup Yorkie could cause serious complications, like a ruptured uterus and death. You can't honestly guarantee the size a puppy will grow in the uterus anymore than you can guarantee how large they will grow once born. You can only estimate! Geeeeez  |

My biggest concern here is that this breeder says that she sells for friends and other breeders. So therefore even though you have seen her home and set up you have not seen those of her friends and other breeders she knows. Sounds like a broker to me. All that being said since your mind is made up best wishes with your new little yorkie. I personally would never buy from someone breeding under 3 lbs. I have a tiny and the vet has said that I should never ever breed her (which I never would of anyway) but her pelvis area they said is way to small to deliver. I am more concerned with these tiny little mama's here than I am the new puppy. God bless. |
This isnt a good breeder breeding tinies |
Take it from someone who had a tiny dog and all of the heartache and pain that can go with and stay away from teacup and micromini dogs. Please don't support breeders that produce them on purpose, risking breeding a tiny, delicate little female girl to get ultra-tiny puppies from her frail little body to sell and release at 6 - 8 weeks before all their problems show up. Many genetic problems don't show until a dog is a few years old but many things in the tinies show up after a few weeks of age. If your breeder is doing anything like that, not testing her breeding pair for genetic problems they could pass along prior to breeding and has tested or knows the test results of grand and great-grandparents, etc.,; or is breeding purposefully to produce tiny, tiny dogs, please reconsider what a disservice they are doing to this lovely breed and the little dam and her puppies. And if you still do get the dog, I know you will love the little thing and be prepared to get whatever medical attention is required ASAP. Just Google "problems with breeding teacup Yorkshire Terriers (Yorkies)" and terms like that and read up, be prepared with all the supplies, a credit card for you must pay ER vets up front before treatment and learn about symptoms of hypoglycemia, etc., and how to keep the very young babies who leave their mom before age 10 or 12 weeks from having certain problems, etc., since they won't be with mom for significant brain imprinting, etc. It is your decision to make whatever you decide and at least you will be well-informed, knowing what to expect. |
To the breeder. Good breeders follow there breeds mother club and the mother club normally knows what is better for the dogs then vets. Ytca.org is the mother club they say puppies should not leave the mother until 12 weeks. There is no such thing as teacups and good breeders would never ever use that word because they know it is a marketing ploy to for bybs and puppy mills. I looked at the eyes of some of your dogs and yes I did see sadness. Yorkies under 5 pounds should not be bred. There are vets who will say what you want to get paid. I know you are either a byb or puppy mill and I will not apologize for that what you do to these dogs so you can make money is sick sick sick! Any one who supports this breeder is supporting bad breeding and the only way to stop bad breeders like this is why we the people need to step up and say enough is enough and not buy from them so they go out of business! Again I beg anyone reading this please do not buy from this breeder do your research and you will see she is wrong please for the sake of the 2 pound dog being bred whose life is in major danger every time she carries a litter and who did not ask for that please. |

I think you guys are overreacting, and frankly being rude. If you wouldn't buy a puppy from this lady, that's perfectly fine and your choice, but on the flip side if OP wants to, who are you to tell her what to do? These puppies are obviously not living in squalor or being abused. If you wanted to warn her as friends you did so and she was very gracious in accepting your criticisms, but in the end it is her choice and I think it's hateful to rain on her parade. EmmaSophia, your pup is darling and I hope you get her with no problems and enjoy her immensely! |

I know you are excited (and who can blame you) but a responsible breeder would never ship dogs, or have a paypal button on their site. * weeks is too young to get a yorkie pup, and you may be surprised by the number of health problems she has later. |

I didn't respond to the greeder breeder in question here, you can all see from her post that she PURPOSELY breeds tinies to get tinies & is in this business to make $$$ & her vet is from another planet! |

We have seen so many people come on here with puppies bought from these brokers that are sick with vet bills adding up. Bran new puppies brought home and the owner has already put in thousands dollars of vet bills, as well as heartache. I think it would be wrong not to say anything- The O.P can do as she pleases obviously, but maybe the next person looking at that website will take another look. |
I just looked at the web site...WOW is all i can say!!!! |
You're right, it would have been wrong to say nothing, but several people have already LOUDLY said several somethings. Enough is enough. You shouting your opinions isn't going to change the OPs. They've already decided on their pup and you being self righteous about it won't change that. If you feel so strongly about unethical breeders you should put that energy into actually doing something about them rather than crushing people's enthusiasm over their new furbaby. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't buy from this breeder either, I'm not defending them, I'm just asking for a little human decency and politeness here towards a fellow YorkieTalk member. |

Does that make you everyone's mother then? Doing something about it would be calling the ASPCA (or if you really hate her, PETA) and reporting the breeder if you thought her animals were being treated unethically. Or notifying the registry she is affiliated with. Anyone that would have been warned off by this thread would have been after 3 or 4 posts. 4 pages of them is just unnecessary. And finally, why are you still trying to argue to me that this breeder isn't kosher? I said I wasn't defending them, nor would I buy from them. You're too busy arguing to listen. I agree with you that anyone who has a buy now button on their puppies just isn't right. |
I had a tiny little 4lb girl who was a rehome from a breeder like this. I saw what it can do to these poor little things. She lived to be only 7 years old because her little heart wore out way to soon. If you ever have a rescue or a "rehome" of one of these tiny little breeders you would be able to see why so many of us are against breeding tinies. I have a tiny one now but she was charted to be over 6lbs and didn't make it. It is just not worth the heartache watching them suffer just so you can say you have a "teacup" yorkie. Thank God Kyra is a very healthy little one but sadly when they are bred to be tiny on purpose that is not always the case. I hope if the OP is set on this little girl that she lives a very long life, I just personally would not buy from this breeder or any that bred dams that small. |

Even the best breeders out there can occasionally produce a smaller pup. Why not buy from them, knowing they are taking the absolute highest measure to insure the health of all dogs involved. Purposely breeding a "true tiny" to another "true tiny" is NOT ethical or encouraged. Dogs under 5 lbs should not be bred, period. Any person who uses the word teacup on their website is doing it as a marketing ploy, and why on earth would you be looking for a breeder like that? It's like a car salesman who is really good at his job,its the honest one, not the fake one with the big smile and looking to get the most money out of you. A good breeder actually would sell a tiny cheaper considering if they are too small for show prospect, that is a flaw just as much as a dog too big for show. They would not be jacking the price up to $4000 because they KNOW how guillble people are, and how well "teacups" sell. That is greed! And to whoever said "go put your efforts into stopping a byb instead" that is what we are trying to do here! Education is the best way to shut these greeders down! I can't tell you how.many times I've seen a new member of YT say wow, I didn't know the signs, what red flags to look for...now I know. |
this is my opinion, but most people I know would NEVER spend 3 grand to buy a puppy from someone that is breeding moms that are 3 lbs, one of the female breeders I believe was only 2.8 lbs. That is insane to breed a pup that is that small, pups bred that small intentionally have so many more health risks than pups bred to the standard. Let alone the risk you put the mom at. If someone has that much money to spend why not seek out a show breeder, I bet their pups might even be less money and chances for a healthy puppy are much greater. Question for the OP, why are you buying from this breeder? are you looking for a 3 lb dog on purpose, if so I hope you are well aware of the risks, of course buying any puppy is always a risk, but some risks are greater than other. Also if you pick out a pup at 7 or 8 weeks, you really will not have any clue what it will look like as an adult. |
Wow I'm not a breeder but she has females that she breeds that are 3 pounds! That's nuts to me. And soooo many puppies! $4000 for a pet is a tad crazy to me too. Looks like a GREEDER not a breeder. IMO. But people keep buying from them that's why they sell em by the handfuls. Blows my mind. |

If you look at the above or google anything Yorkie you will be directed to links here on YT. We are the largest Yorkie anything in the country. Here you will find thousands of threads regarding puppy mills, but even better most of us are unfortunately experienced and/or very educated regarding this topic. We are not trying to hurt you, we are trying to tell you that this is a puppy mill/broker/etc. All of this breeders practices are completely unethical and there isn't a reputable breeder around that would vouch for her. I understand your love for the little girl but if I ever say anything I can only tell you to run, run far away. My Mini is from a puppy mill, she is nothing but unhealthy...no hips I didn't know about until she was almost a year old, allergies so severe that she has not gone 3 months without medication, she gets shots weekly to help, she had an eye that a first glance nothing looked wrong, within days of bringing her home we were told her entire eye had to be reconstructed...$7000...in total we have spent over $25,000 on our Miss Mini and I absolutely am not exaggerating.....I wouldn't trade her for anything and am glad I was so ignorant/uneducated regarding puppymills etc....I am sure there are very few people who would do for her what my husband and I have done for her... I will research this breeder for future visitors to this site...if your interested stay tuned, I'm pretty good at this...but, let me just tell you this breeder is not a maybe she is definitely a puppymiller...she even sells baby pigs....there is nothing ethical about this woman, do you really want to support her breeding program? |
