This is kind of funny but it was scarey at the time. I brought Bentley over to the new dog sitter's house to meet her doggies. We went into the fenced back yard and met the pooch's and sitter was showing him around. She told us to follow her around the outside of the pool(inground) and as we were walking he decided to go for a swim. I screamed and was just about to jump in and save him(thank god I didn't have to) and he just started swimming to the other side.

The sitter scooped him up in a towel and we dried him off. After that he didn 't want to have anything to do with her or the dogs, he just wanted mommy.I am happy now that I know he can swim because I want him to come in the pool this summer and not be afraid of the water.

Natural swimmer. They are such curious little buggers. Glad he's ok.

Good to know he can swim and all is well. Definitely make sure someone is always watching when he is around a pool. They can swim, but probably can't get out. Eventually, he will probably beg to go swimming. Dogs do like to swim

Yorkies are small and could tucker out easily, so when you do take him swimming again, buy him a dog life jacket, just to be on the safe side. You can find many models on amazon.com. If someone wants to chime in with a tried and proven favorite life jacket, that would be great!

I'm glad we have an above ground pool with a gate and a lock.
