Natural Tick Repellent?

Ticks are on a rampage this year. Long story short, I'm trying to find a way to give extra protection from ticks for my pups. I've read an article on natural tick repellent for pets.

"For pets, add 1 cup of water to a spray bottle, followed by 2 cups of distilled white vinegar. Ticks hate the smell and taste of vinegar, and will be easily be repelled by this ingredient alone. Then, add two spoonfuls of vegetable or almond oil, which both contain sulfur (another natural tick repellent). Mix in a few spoonfuls of lemon juice, citrus oil, or peppermint oil, which will all repel ticks and fleas while also creating a scented repellent."

Has anyone tried something like this? If so, could you provide any feedback? Thanks.

I use Avon bath oil diluted with water put in spray bottle, deters on my dogs cats and horses

Yeap! I use Advantix 2. Surprisingly, I found either a larva or a nymph on him while using advantix 2 once or twice... It's weird b/c I just talked to my other neighbors who are dog owners and said they've also found ticks on their dogs. Both neighbors use tick repellents (different brands) but all of us seem to have this issue.

I live in Northern VA... The area I live in do have a lot of trees and wild animals (deers, foxes, rabbits, etc...)

I swear... if it was possible, I'd have my furbies in those plastic bubbles so those horrid insects can't get to them while walking...

One year when it was very bad here Callie would get one or two ticks a month even with the Advantix II but it was better then the amount she would get without it.
