Okay so I found out yesterday that Bently - The Yorkie Russel is only 4 weeks and 5 days old today. I was kinda bummed because I thoughr that I would be bringing him home May 7th. My sister in- law and I had a bit of a misunderstanding. Lol she knows the owner so she pretty much relays all the info to me. Its driving me crazy!! I cannot wait to hold this precious puppy in my arms. I will be going to visit him for my first time this weekend. I'm super excited, but I know its going to stink when its time for me to leave and he can't come home eith me. Anyway he was born march 7th. He is absolutely beautiful as you can tell from the pic :) my question to all of you now that we know exactly how old he is... is this... Do any of you believe his hair may start getting long like a yorkie?? Thank you in advance!

It should be interesting what he is going to look like. I have never heard of a jackrussel mixed with a yorkie. My Daisy is a jackrussel poodle mix..he is a cute lil guy though:)

I don't think his hair will be long probably look more like a wire jack russel

Bently is a cutie, to predict what he will look like as an adult is not realistic at this point. It is hard enough (all most impossible) to predict at 4 weeks what a purebred yorkie will look like as an adult so you can't expect more than that with a mix. My pup Lola is a yorkie pom mix, I bought her at 4 months old so by that time I had more of an idea of what she would look like as an adult. She looked Yorkieish, her brother was a total brown fluff ball and looked more pom. If you google yorkie poms or yorkie-jack russels you will see a wide variety of looks. If you want a better idea of what a mixed pup will look like full grown you need to buy one at around 12 weeks or older, even then it is still a crap shoot.

I should have asked you this, are you looking for a dog that looks like a yorkie or one that looks like a Jack Russel?

I have actually always wanted a Yorkie! You know how exspensive they can be though and my husband and I can just not afford one at this time. I've tried to adopt but even to adopt it is almost just as exspensive everywhere I have looked. So to answer your quedtion a Yorkie. Lol I just got lucky and she is giving this precious yorkie russel away.

If you want a the look of a yorkie my advice is to not compromise. Either save more money and get one a year for now, or buy a mix that is at least several months older so you can tell more what it will look like full grown. That's what I did when I bought Lola, I had 4 purebreds before her and this time wanted something different but NOT that different. I keep searching and found Lola who was a mix but at 4 months I could tell had a lot of yorkie look in her. Contrary to what it may feel like there are puppies out there between 3 and 6 months.

Jack Russels are wonderful highly energetic dogs, but are bigger and have much different hair than yorkies. Goggle Jack Russels and JR mixes as ADULTS, if you are happy with that look then go for this puppy, but if you heart is set on the look of a yorkie than I would pick a different one. When selecting a puppy you have to remember two things, the puppy look only lasts for about 7 months and if you are lucky you get to live with the adult dog about 12 years or even longer. So don't by a dog based on what they look like as a puppy but by what they will look like full grown

I showed u a bunch of pics of yorkie/Russel mixes yesterday.. They are very cute dogs but the fur is short. If u can't afford a yorkie just enjoy this baby for now until u can give him a little brother or sister yorkie.

Yes. Lol I totally just saw that you sent those. Thank you do much. They are absolutely adorable and your totally right.... and who knows maybe in a few years I could afford a Yorkie playmate for Bently!! Thanks so much!!

Thank you so much for all your advice and also your information on the Yorkie breed :) You have been quite helpful :) I now have looked at the Yorkie Russel mix and have gotten a better idea of what he may look like. I'm a dog lover in general so I know that I will fall in love with him. Although I have always wanted a Yorkie... I coukd always save up as both of you suggested and get a Yorkie in the future. I will keep you all updated with pics and info... :) I can't wait until I get him home.

what do you mean for now, a pup should be a long term commitment, like 12 years or more. Free puppies should not just fill in the gap until someone can afford what they want. I know you did not mean it the way it sounded and they OP is probably not even thinking this way, but sadly it happens, puppies grow up to not be as cute as one thought they would be. A free dog is great if you want that breed or type of a dog, but if you don't, that free dog might become a PITA that you have to take care of, groom and feed.
