Bently 4 weeks and 4 days!! 1 Attachment(s) Okay so I found out yesterday that Bently - The Yorkie Russel is only 4 weeks and 5 days old today. I was kinda bummed because I thoughr that I would be bringing him home May 7th. My sister in- law and I had a bit of a misunderstanding. Lol she knows the owner so she pretty much relays all the info to me. Its driving me crazy!! I cannot wait to hold this precious puppy in my arms. I will be going to visit him for my first time this weekend. I'm super excited, but I know its going to stink when its time for me to leave and he can't come home eith me. Anyway he was born march 7th. He is absolutely beautiful as you can tell from the pic :) my question to all of you now that we know exactly how old he is... is this... Do any of you believe his hair may start getting long like a yorkie?? Thank you in advance! |
1 Attachment(s) It should be interesting what he is going to look like. I have never heard of a jackrussel mixed with a yorkie. My Daisy is a jackrussel poodle mix..he is a cute lil guy though:) |
1 Attachment(s) Both of my morkies were very fuzzy by five weeks. Here is bear lying on his maltese mom. |
I don't think his hair will be long probably look more like a wire jack russel |
Thank you to all of you. YOUR BABIES ARE ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!! :) |
Hrossen11, So are you saying his hair will be a little longer than a Jackrussels? |
Bently is a cutie, to predict what he will look like as an adult is not realistic at this point. It is hard enough (all most impossible) to predict at 4 weeks what a purebred yorkie will look like as an adult so you can't expect more than that with a mix. My pup Lola is a yorkie pom mix, I bought her at 4 months old so by that time I had more of an idea of what she would look like as an adult. She looked Yorkieish, her brother was a total brown fluff ball and looked more pom. If you google yorkie poms or yorkie-jack russels you will see a wide variety of looks. If you want a better idea of what a mixed pup will look like full grown you need to buy one at around 12 weeks or older, even then it is still a crap shoot. |
I should have asked you this, are you looking for a dog that looks like a yorkie or one that looks like a Jack Russel? |

Jack Russels are wonderful highly energetic dogs, but are bigger and have much different hair than yorkies. Goggle Jack Russels and JR mixes as ADULTS, if you are happy with that look then go for this puppy, but if you heart is set on the look of a yorkie than I would pick a different one. When selecting a puppy you have to remember two things, the puppy look only lasts for about 7 months and if you are lucky you get to live with the adult dog about 12 years or even longer. So don't by a dog based on what they look like as a puppy but by what they will look like full grown |
I showed u a bunch of pics of yorkie/Russel mixes yesterday.. They are very cute dogs but the fur is short. If u can't afford a yorkie just enjoy this baby for now until u can give him a little brother or sister yorkie. |

Well that is good to hear, I probably worry needlessly but have heard so many stories about people that give a puppy up because it got bigger, or was more hyper or shed, and so forth that I really want people to understand that when buying a mix so young none of us can really predict how the pup might develop. I bet the pup will be great, but when you seemed so hopeful to see yorkie in him I was afraid, that if you did not you might be disappointed, but from what you just posted it sounds like you will be happy just to have a pup, and that is so great to hear |

(like parent and grandparents) for genetic illness and I'm guessing the breeder didn't do genetic and health test on the dogs she breed. A puppy can seem perfectly healthy for a long time and then wham they show symptoms of a genetic illness and can cost you thousands of dollars just to diagnose and more to take care of it. It is just something to think about when money is an issue. |
Taylor is correct in her post above, often when you get a pup from an opps or a breeder that does not health test the health of the pup is a crap shoot. I did not know Lola's past so I spent a bunch of money on blood work and other tests before really giving my heart to her. I had the tests done the day after I picked her up and the results shortly after. To me the $200.00 I spent was well worth it. |

I had my first test done the day after I picked her up and was fully prepared emotionally to take her back if I did not get good results. I have a neighbor that bought a morkie from her friend and it had pretty bad liver shunt right out of the gate, so like you said a cheap puppy can get pretty expensive, but then so can a pound puppy. Of course even with the numerous tests I had for Lola things can still go wrong |
Congrats on your new pup |
