| ![]() Hi. I have a 14 week old Yorkie male I named Franky. I've had him for 4 weeks now. He's sweet as he can be and cute as a button. I have never had a puppy and I have never had a Yorkie. I had adult Rotties. I know I know. Extreme. That's about all I have to say for now. Time to search for housebreaking solutions. ![]() |

| ![]() Thanks! I learned a lot about being the alpha from my Rotties. They need to know who is alpha as well or they will take over. Just because he's little doesn't mean he can get away with bad behavior. I plan to have a well behaved little dog. And I will. |

| ![]() Good attitude to have. My dog didn't have that benefit and I didn't get him full time until he was over a year and it's been a battle getting him to behave the way I want him to. |

| ![]() Congrats on your new Yorkie!! Would love to see pics ![]() Be prepared...as GeorgiesMomma said - they end up training US. lol A yorkie is not a dog. I keep telling people that. They are their own unique species ![]()

| ![]() Welcome to you and your little one, Franky. Would love to meet him! All during my younger years, I too had the large breeds, but as I got older and didn't have the energy needed to properly train and exercise them, I decided on a small breed. I find their so much easier traveling with and taking care of. I think I even enjoy them much more.

| ![]() I also got my first little dog a few months ago after having large dogs. Mine is definitely harder to train. He is more independent and not easily pleased as my large boy. He only works for boiled chicken, cheese or hot dogs. If I try to train with anything else he just walks away. He can now sit, down and stay but it took a few months. He is 8 months old now. Just be patient and keep reinforcing or they will win. |

Hi there, Congrats on your first yorkie, and welcome to Yorkie Talk, I can't wait to see photos of Frankie, I don't live far from you. When you are ready to get out and socialize with Frankie if you like I will get you info on our metro Detroit meetup group, it's mostly yorkies and we call it Motor City Pups.
