Looking for reputable breeder.. state doesnt matter. :icon5: I am looking for a reputable breeder the state doesnt matter.. I want a VERY healthy, loveable, and happy puppy. Can anyone help me out??!! Thank you!! Also I am looking for a small yorkie but I know that I should run if I see the word tea cup in a breeder ;) Thank you! also I am new to this so how do I get this to get posted under New posts?? Thank you! |
The following link is an ad that I have seen near my home town. I know nothing personally about them. However, from looking at their website, it appears that this family follows the important breeding "rules". They do not allow buyers to have breeding rights. They only sell yorkies. It appears that their yorkies are well cared for. Home |

Also one of the puppies listed is said to be X-small. And I guess the last thing is well, let me as the breeders on here...Do you think that the decorations and declarations are overkill? |

I enjoyed looking at the website. Very cute pups but seems like the owners are stating that their yorkie at one year is 2 or3 lbs. On the very small side to me. Boy, it's difficult to find the right breeder. |

Thank you! |
To find a reputable breeder, you can look at YTCA.org (but their site might still be down for mainenance). I can recommend several. In TX, there is Judy from Rosehill Yorkies (her screen name is yorkiemom1 here so you can PM her). Also, Deb of Amazing Yorkies is great! Her screen name here is Amazing Yorkies. There is a reputable show breeder in Atlanta, Ga and they go by TyAva. You can google them (they are actually in Marietta, GA). Hope that helps. There are more (maybe some closer to you), but these are the ones I've grown to love from research and will look into these when I buy my next Yorkie (contrary to my hubby's wishes, yes, I said I am getting another Yorkie one day lol) |
to the OP Even though you are open in the area of your search, your best bet is to at least start closest to home. I was on the Yorkie Club of America's site the other day and while it is being reworked you can still access the local breed clubs that are members of their organization. Most have contact names listed, so start calling or emailing those closest to you, because in spite of how easy it is to shop for a puppy via the internet nothing beats going and playing with it in person. The breeders on that site are mostly show breeders or retired show breeder. Buying from a show breeder for the first time can often rattle a newbie yorkie purchaser, but don't let that scare you just be forewarned. Most show breeders take their time in deciding if they will be selling a puppy or holding it back to show, so don't be surprised if you hear they may or may not have a puppy to sell in a month or two, or that they have a puppy that is 4 months or older that they are just now going to sell. These puppies are very well bred, most are health tested and so forth so they understandably cost more than what you will run across in the newspaper, Craig's list etc. The club breeders are very well connected in the yorkie world so as you talk with them you will learn things and often if they do not have puppies available they will tell you who does, so they are a great source of information. Good luck in your search I know it can be daunting. |

To the OP, I always recommend someone check with a breeder on the YTCA website, the YTCA is the mother club for Yorkies and their breeders are dedicated to preserving and improving the breed. You still have to know what qualities to look for to be sure the breeder isn't just in it for the money, but it's a good place to start and many states have YTCA breeders so you can go to the home personally and investigate the conditions of the breeding dogs. Right now their referral website is down, but you can check back in a few days or contact them here. The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America |

A good place to ask might be the Yorkshire Terrier Club of Oklahoma City, OK. You can find their contact info below. Let us know what you find out. Yorkshire Terrier Club of Oklahoma City |

[QUOTE=Lou;4194313]I know that looks like a really good breeder but something about the website is making me uncomfortable. One of the things is a photo of a new owner with her puppy. It looks like it is taken in a parking lot. I know a lot of breeders will meet you in lots so you don't come to their houses. My daughter visited her breeder's house twice before she finally got her puppy. The breeder met her "in the middle" and they did exchange the pup in a parking lot. So, there ARE some reasonable explanations for this type of pic.:) |
I sure hope the person looking for the pup saw our replays and didn't buy from a bad breeder. |

Hello, I am purchasing a pup from Deb at Amazing Yorkies, I know she has some pups ready for next month. She is an awesome lady and has helped me tremendously!!! |
I am from Oklahoma! Thanks for the help guys! |
I got Izzy from Breny (member here) of Greens Treasured Yorkies. I can honestly say Brenda is a wonderful breeder. Izzy was very well adjusted and still is, she was almost pee pad trained and just a wonderful addition to our family. Brenda sent me pictures of Izzy from the time we put a deposit on her until we picked her up (including a few videos). Brenda and I were in contact weekly via email and telephone. I would recommend her. Her website is greenstreasuredyorkies.com. Good luck in your search for your puppy. |

I'm glad Nancy outed that website. Mass production of puppies always causes red flags to come out. I would suggest you go to the AKC website and look for a conformation or Yorkie breed club in an area that is close to you. The clubs have breeder referral people who will only refer you to approved breeders. They are very careful to only name good breeders as they need to protect their reputations. American Kennel Club - Club Search and Directory The standard weight for a Yorkie is 7lbs and under. If you buy from a breeder with a reputation for breeding a good consistent line of Yorkies you will have a much better chance of getting a pup that will be within the standard size. |
