I need some opinions I'm not getting anything right now but I'm looking into getting a playpen type dealy and a car seat and or carrier for Minnie. Here is a playpen I found ![]() I like that it folds flat and is light weight. When I go to my parents I like to take Minnie but she has several dogs and even though they aren't mean per say they are too rough and get wayyy to excited with her so I'd like to be able to carry around something like this in my car for visiting family or friends. And Ive been looking into car seats and also carriers that will work for flying and traveling in general. She is in the car everyday currently and she behaves really well but she has recently started wanting to see out the window. ![]() I don't know if she would be able to see any better with this one but I do like that it fits under an airplane seat, the unzips and the bottom is a bed, and that it has the tether if you do want to use it as a carseat.O and it buckles in to your seat so it would at least keep her from trying to climb up me. If anybody has anything better let me know. I'm new to all this stuff. I've had dogs before but they were BIG dogs they just sat in the back seat and they didn't get to travel lol |
I have the same playpen - except mine is blue and love it. Word of caution, an overly rambunctious little one can tip the playpen on its side and use it like a hamster ball. I didn't have an escapee, though, because the top was zipped. The carrier looks nice and secure. Buying for our little divas is so much fun. |
I also have the same playpen and its so easy to put up and down. And it comes in a handy bag, so it's easy to take around with you. :) I would recommend it! |
O yay! That makes me feel better knowing other ppl have it also! I think I'm getting that one sooner than later. |

morgan chewed through the zipper of his so we got him an IRIS play pen from amazon// My husband bought a piece of plywood and we covered it with some lineolum we had and then screwed it all together so it has a floor |
I'm also looking into buying mine a car seat. I like the ones that put them up high enough to see out and have a clip to attched to the seat so they are secured with their harness. I found a few when I googled pet car seats. There's a lot of different types. I'm going to watch this thread and see what others suggest :) |
I got a playpen similar to that , mine zippers on the bottom ( not sure if that one velcros or zippers on bottom ) I did a lot of research and the ones with the Velcro bottom people seemed to have a lot of issues with smaller dogs being able to easily route through the gaps in the bottom. I can't wait to use mine to take my martini to work! I also bought this carrier for the car, it even has a slot on top for the seat belt to secure to it ![]() |
I also meant to include the playpen I bought , it will be here Monday Amazon.com: 46" Deluxe Soft Sided Folding Pet Playpen / Crate - Pink / Black: Pet Supplies |
I have this playpen 57" 2 Door Pet Tent Puppy Dog Playpen Excercise Kennel | eBay It's really big but my Chloe is a jumper. But she has her toys and bed in there. What ever size you get I suggest get the top and bottom that zipper in. The first playpen I purchased had the bottom velcro to hold the bottom down. My chloe didn't get out but she could have because she chewed on the velcro. Good luck in whatever playpen you choose. |
I have a play pen similar to that one and it works great! In the car all dogs should be hooked to the seat belt so if you have an accident they wouldn't fly through the car and hit the windshield or go through it. I like for carseats the snoozer because the safety strap hooks to the seat belt and then to there harness. |
I've been looking for something safe for my Enzo too! He's a jumper and a climber! The 1st one we bought didn't have a roof, he scaled that 3ft thing instantly! :) I'll have to find a blue one for my little man |
the only problem I found with this pen is the base is Velcro and took only a few days for the litter of puppies we had to work out, if we push our little noses under the edge then we can get out, and they sure did, you can buy the same type but it has a zip base as well as the top this worked really well, much to the pups disappointment |
Simple Car Seat Elevator for smaller Dogs On the Car Seat, here's a very simple inexpensive way to get that done... Get a Cardboard Box, just tall enough to let her sit and look out. Cover the top of the Box with an old Towel (for traction and softness). Use your existing Harness on her. Buy and inexpensive 6' Leash. Run the Leash back behind the box, down between the seat bottom and back rest, and tie it to the framework (underneath) the seat. Adjust that length where she can just sit/lie down comfortably. You may place the Seat Belt around the Box, to keep it from sliding forward when Breaking. The Harness and Leash will keep her in place. That should provide you with enough length/room, where she can move down on the seat, or over into your lap if you install this in the front passengers seat. When not using this... Leave the Leash tied there and just lay it down along side of the seat out of the way, and put the Cardboard Box in the Trunk if you want to for next time. |
I have a car seat for my little one and she LOVES it! one thing you have to keep in is that you may be losing one of your seats. my mom has a carseat for her yorkie and it fits right on the middle console of her SUV. If you tend to have lots of passengers you may want to consider a carseat that fits there instead of the passenger/back seat :). the middle console ones also allow your dog to see out the front window which they love! |
