Has anyone used a dog communicater? I am just curious what those who have think. I dont think I believe and would ever pay to communicate to my dogs. I have a foster that is dealing with some issues and a very generous person had been following my fosters story and isnt able to adopt her her but wanted to help her so she bought her sessions with the doggie communicator. |
oops I spelled communicator wrong in the title! |
I remember a TV show some years ago where a lady talked to people's pets. When you do this I hope you post what the communicator said about your foster. I've always wondered what my dogs are thinking. Don't know if I believe in a communicator but maybe this person can shed some light on things from a different perspective. |
While you communicator might be able to communicate with dogs, there's no way of telling if she's for real or is a fake. People who do these types of things often give generic statements that would apply to most people. You could hide something right in front of your dog and see if the dog tells the communicator where it is! :D Hopefully she knows a little something about dog training and will be able to tell you things that build up the dog’s confidence. A dog that doesn't understand the rules and doesn't have a job, is going to have little confidence. Cesar thinks a good way to give a dog confidence is to take her for walks, and I think it can change a dog's personality. The walk is seen as a job by the dog, and the job helps the dog find its place in the world. Your dog has been bounced from place to place and probably doesn't feel like she can really trust humans. If you were seeing a child psychologist, only a few of them would be concerned of the "why's" the child is behaving the way they are behaving, most would be concerned with the behavior and work directly with that. Same with a dog, you don't really need to know the whys, just work with the behavior. I personaly would rather have time with a good dog trainer. |
I am most curious! I did research dog communicators at one point but never went further, even though the price seemed fairly reasonable. IDK, doesn't knowing the 'why' sometimes help in which way to go with the training? One of mine is a bit of an aggressive walker, and I've narrowed it down to being fear-based, which really changed the way I handle her. At first I assumed she was being alpha, so I stepped up my alpha but things got worse. When I realized her fear, I changed to being overly calm and understanding, which helps to settle her. |

The communicator never spoke with me about her or asked me any questions her until after she had worked with her a couple times then she gave me feedback. I do believe these people could easily generalize and fake their job. I looked it up and this one charges a fairly pricey amount per session. Again this is not something I would pay for but this was donated to my foster and is a very kind gesture from a kind person that really wants to see her get better. My foster also has a trainer/behaviorist that is working with her so she is getting help from all angles. The communicator did tell me several things that were not at all general and very specific to my dog and her issues. She described her quirky personality perfectly and to be honest left me feeling far more convinced than sceptical...after a few sessions the communicator called me and said she felt my dog wasnt going to improve much with this method that she is resisting her. I found the whole thing very interesting and oddly believe more now than I did before. I still dont think its something I would do with mine but I did read up a little on how it works and that it is the same type of energy that animals use to communicate with each other from a distance. Just wondering how many people have done it and their experiences. |

Always, between dissimilar entities...humans/dogs, etc...there is room for 'doubt' that communication is genuine. However, the ability to communicate 'telepathically' is well documented and many books have been written. I do not doubt at all the capability to communicate telepathically, and find your experience very interesting. I do tend to be a bit...well, maybe 'a lot'...skeptical of such things when presented as TV programming, but then, I consider everything on TV as 'paid for, fictional entertainment' and wouldn't be surprised to find that it was faked by paid actors/actresses. :p Hopefully, your foster will fully recover from all that ails her. |
I have never have used one. My family jokes and call my dh the dog wispier..that is because dogs love him. I think it is because he talks to them and focuses on them. I really think some are genuine .... there are a lot of things, people and events that we can't explain thus think they are not true. |

Now you have me curious about your dog, lol. |
There have been many times that I wished a troubled animal could tell me what it had been through but, no, I don't think I would ever pay money for a "pet communicator." Usually with enough patience, love and affection you can communicate to a troubled pet that you can be trusted and they will respond. I think pets tend to be the best communicators as well as receptors. |

That should have read 'Well, you can't complain there.' |

Oh Yay! :D |
Ok so I will be very honest. I felt more than skeptical about this but also open to try anything to help. So I never spoke with the communicator/healer prior to the first two sessions. The kind donator sent her my foster dogs bio and picture from our rescue page and paid her. The bio she read was the first one I had written when I got the dog and it really no longer applied to her. So she couldnt get much info from that. I picked her up myself at the shelter and only me and my husband know some of the details...the rescue nor anywhere online is this info posted. She was a stray and wouldnt let us near her. I had initially said in her bio she was petrified of people but as time went on things changed and we felt it was not so much fear she has but she really just doesnt want us near but I hadnt changed her bio yet and didnt really know how to describe her. The healer works with animals while they are asleep she said they are more open. She visited her twice and then she called me. She didnt ask me any questions about the dogs past or current state. She only told me what she saw in the sessions which she said the dog sends images to her so she does her best to interpret what it means and if she cant she would just tell me an image the dog sent for me to figure out. I will try to generalize so its not the longest story ever. She said the first night they talked about her past and what happened. She talked about where my foster lived and so on. Things she said were the same as the shelter said and she described things that my husband and I assumed about her past based on her behavior. None of this could have been gathered from the web. Also she described my foster as bold and very curious which if she based anything from her bio I had posted describing her as petrified...one would not use those words to describe her but her bio was outdated and she is crazy, bold and curious. The second night she said my foster wouldnt talk she wanted to know what happened to her family...which is crazy because this dog is the most loyal protective dog I have ever seen and I can so hear her saying that. She refused communication that night. But she did say she saw her in a blue bed with another dog and a man in the room when she visited her. I asked about a women (me) or another dog she said nope no women or other dog. Well all three dogs sleep together and I was there. I hung up and felt this was def a waste of my time...but later remembered I couldnt sleep and went to the couch and my little female always comes with me...weird!!! The third try she said she that she knows we are helping her and she knows we wont hurt her and she is going to decide on her own if she will let us in. She wouldnt communicate after that...this is sooo my foster its crazy. We see her watch us, we know she isnt afraid she simply has not made the choice to accept us yet. There are many small things and details that were so very specific that she told me...too many to go into just little quirks and things. I tried to condense the story and not go into the little details...hopefully it makes sense. But my foster is very different and her quirks are not general dog quirks so to have someone say them is weird and makes you wonder! I appreciated that she didnt continue to take the donators money and said she couldnt help her. The whole thing left me confused and less skeptical than ever. Im a bit surprised that more people here havent used or have stories about communicators. I would love to hear what others have experienced. |
As a psychology major and someone whose open minded I have seen people with amazing connection skills. Maybe not with words but there someone with interpersonal skills very tuned in my opinion can transmit messages. I know my dogs so deeply that I understand them. I would also be weary lots of scam artist. |
I believe that there are people out there who are really sensitive to others, both animals and humans. It kind of makes sense why she won't accept you...because you aren't her forever family. I hope that once she finds her family, she will accept them. |

(The title of this thread intrigued me because I visualized a communicator or tricorder from star trek translating what the dog said :yelrotflm) |
Although I would never pay for a communicator I do believe that animals are very sensitive to the communications that people put out. Not in the way we communicate or receive signals though. Animals can smell hormones that people and animals put out when they are experiencing various emotions. Animals understand body language as well as the tone of a voice of humans and pets. They even notice muscle movements. A dog that has been through the emotional mill is extra attentive and always questioning it's surroundings and especially the new people it has been introduced to. We humans are so accustomed to verbal communication that we often miss what is going on inside our pet's head. That is why some people seem to have a way of easily training animals. Some have learned some parts of the communication process that pet's have and work with it in their training sessions. We can all learn to "listen" to what our pets are saying. |
Very interesting. Thank you for the story. That's really great...not only open to sentient communications but able to travel OOB as well. The Monroe Institute (Robert A. Monroe) comes immediately to mind. Amazing...I would keep that contact information f.o.r.e.v.e.r. LOL There is much we do not know...or so it would seem...how wonderful to have someone to help you explore possibilities beyond your own capabilities...or at least confirm them...if ever you should find you need that kind of assistance. I would think, for those trying to connect with someone genuine, that it would be very difficult to separate 'those who advertise their services' from 'those able to perform' them...and I doubt there are ever any guarantees of success making it more difficult to separate out the con artists. I think that would be my main issue if I felt inclined to seek out someone...finding the 'right' one. I do believe what was told to you to be accurate. She knows she is temporary where she is, and she knows you are helping her...but it seems she may not understand why she is only temporarily there and may maintain a detachment the same way we would do if we believed we might 'fall in love' with someone we 'know' we will 'lose' soon. For ourselves, I think we might call that a 'self-protection' mechanism. :D {{{Hugs}}} |

LMAO Did you know there is a movie...an animation...where there are dogs with 'translator collars' who do this very thing? I forget the name of the movie, but we saw it again recently. It is about a couple, the wife of which wants to visit, I think, "Paradise Falls" and the husband eventually 'flies' his home there with a stow-away boy along for the ride. :D |
