Has anyone used a dog communicater? I am just curious what those who have think. I dont think I believe and would ever pay to communicate to my dogs. I have a foster that is dealing with some issues and a very generous person had been following my fosters story and isnt able to adopt her her but wanted to help her so she bought her sessions with the doggie communicator. |
oops I spelled communicator wrong in the title! |
I remember a TV show some years ago where a lady talked to people's pets. When you do this I hope you post what the communicator said about your foster. I've always wondered what my dogs are thinking. Don't know if I believe in a communicator but maybe this person can shed some light on things from a different perspective. |
While you communicator might be able to communicate with dogs, there's no way of telling if she's for real or is a fake. People who do these types of things often give generic statements that would apply to most people. You could hide something right in front of your dog and see if the dog tells the communicator where it is! :D Hopefully she knows a little something about dog training and will be able to tell you things that build up the dog’s confidence. A dog that doesn't understand the rules and doesn't have a job, is going to have little confidence. Cesar thinks a good way to give a dog confidence is to take her for walks, and I think it can change a dog's personality. The walk is seen as a job by the dog, and the job helps the dog find its place in the world. Your dog has been bounced from place to place and probably doesn't feel like she can really trust humans. If you were seeing a child psychologist, only a few of them would be concerned of the "why's" the child is behaving the way they are behaving, most would be concerned with the behavior and work directly with that. Same with a dog, you don't really need to know the whys, just work with the behavior. I personaly would rather have time with a good dog trainer. |
I am most curious! I did research dog communicators at one point but never went further, even though the price seemed fairly reasonable. IDK, doesn't knowing the 'why' sometimes help in which way to go with the training? One of mine is a bit of an aggressive walker, and I've narrowed it down to being fear-based, which really changed the way I handle her. At first I assumed she was being alpha, so I stepped up my alpha but things got worse. When I realized her fear, I changed to being overly calm and understanding, which helps to settle her. |

The communicator never spoke with me about her or asked me any questions her until after she had worked with her a couple times then she gave me feedback. I do believe these people could easily generalize and fake their job. I looked it up and this one charges a fairly pricey amount per session. Again this is not something I would pay for but this was donated to my foster and is a very kind gesture from a kind person that really wants to see her get better. My foster also has a trainer/behaviorist that is working with her so she is getting help from all angles. The communicator did tell me several things that were not at all general and very specific to my dog and her issues. She described her quirky personality perfectly and to be honest left me feeling far more convinced than sceptical...after a few sessions the communicator called me and said she felt my dog wasnt going to improve much with this method that she is resisting her. I found the whole thing very interesting and oddly believe more now than I did before. I still dont think its something I would do with mine but I did read up a little on how it works and that it is the same type of energy that animals use to communicate with each other from a distance. Just wondering how many people have done it and their experiences. |

Always, between dissimilar entities...humans/dogs, etc...there is room for 'doubt' that communication is genuine. However, the ability to communicate 'telepathically' is well documented and many books have been written. I do not doubt at all the capability to communicate telepathically, and find your experience very interesting. I do tend to be a bit...well, maybe 'a lot'...skeptical of such things when presented as TV programming, but then, I consider everything on TV as 'paid for, fictional entertainment' and wouldn't be surprised to find that it was faked by paid actors/actresses. :p Hopefully, your foster will fully recover from all that ails her. |
I have never have used one. My family jokes and call my dh the dog wispier..that is because dogs love him. I think it is because he talks to them and focuses on them. I really think some are genuine .... there are a lot of things, people and events that we can't explain thus think they are not true. |

Now you have me curious about your dog, lol. |
There have been many times that I wished a troubled animal could tell me what it had been through but, no, I don't think I would ever pay money for a "pet communicator." Usually with enough patience, love and affection you can communicate to a troubled pet that you can be trusted and they will respond. I think pets tend to be the best communicators as well as receptors. |

That should have read 'Well, you can't complain there.' |
