Short haired yorkie?? Is there a such thing as a short haired yorkie?? Will my yorkie have short hair or is it a really slow process for some?? |
Foxy's hair grows SUPER slow on her body, but her face grows faster. I honestly don't know if she would ever have floor length hair. |
I don't want her to have floor length hair. I'm just hoping she gets fluffier and that people can recognize her as a yorkie. Lol |
I remember you asking one time if Minnie was pure yorkie. I honestly think Minnie is about the cutest thing around but I don't think she is pure yorkie. She looks to have min pin or chi in her to me. With that said, I don't think she's going to be fluffy. But she will always be cute as a button! |

Do you have a picture? |
There are a couple in her album on her profile page. |
Ok I have to agree Terri, this dog is absolutely adorable, but does look like a yorkie/chi mix maybe? But gosh such cuteness! |
I don't think she will ever be fluffy, she does not look pure so will probably always have short hair, less matting |
agree def thinking yorkie/chi, super cute! |

Minnie is adorable! She looks like a yorkie/chi mix, so she will probably have shorter hair. |
And, I must say...pink is SO her color!! :) |
I don't know that Yorkies have "short" hair by nature but I do know that many owners whose yorkie's have a cottony coat choose to keep their pups groomed in a "puppy cut" to avoid having to deal with matting hair. Other than that, I don't know. I'd love to see picts of your pup!! |
I just posted another one of Minnie. Anyone have any thoughts?? |
She is absolutely adorable. I do think she is mixed with min pin or chihuahua. There are DNA tests you can buy to help determine it. I am not sure how reliable they are but I have seen threads on here where people have used them. |
I dont think you'll have any issue with long flowing hair with her. From what I see in her photos I doubt that your pup will ever have any Yorkie characteristics other than her color. I can only see Chiwawa or Mini pin when I look at her. She's very cute and what matters is that you'll love her with fluff or without the Fluffiness ! :) |
Where I'm confused is there's no mix even that I can find that looks like her. I truley believe deep down she is a yorkie I know most people prolly think I'm crazy for thinking that. I don't care either way but I would like closure I guess either way. Are there pictures or info in missing on what she could be if not a yorkie |
3 Attachment(s) I'm not sure if you bought a Yorkie, or rescue or was told she was Yorkie where ever you got her. But I'm thinking could be all Min Pin. Cute no matter what she is. But I'm afraid she'll not have long flowing hair. |
I think I said on other thread but she does look just like my sisters min pin. |
Minnie is cute but she doesn't seem to have the yorkie hair.. Rufus was fluffy since the first day we got him..Minnie has more of a minpin or chi fur :) But she is really cute :) |
I agree with everyone else that she does not look to be a pure Yorkie BUT she is ADORABLE. Have you thought of doing a DNA on her ? I don't think they cost too much. |
Whatever your dog is she is adorable. I'm sure she is a wonderful pet but she is not a Yorkie. As others have said she does look a lot like a Min Pin. Could be a mix with a Min Pin. There is no such thing as a short haired Yorkie. I hope your breeder is not trying to tell you that. If she is adopted from a shelter I could understand their making a mistake. Shelters many times have trouble identifying the various mixes they get in. If you got her from a breeder than that is a whole different issue. Her coat is not going to get longer. Most 12 week old Yorkies are very fluffy. While long haired pups are born with fairly short hair it grows in pretty quickly and you can tell they are long haired by the time they are ready to leave their mom. |
I came across this pictures and it looks like Minnie!! It's a Chorkie Thought maybe you would like to see it.. http://cdn2.designermixes.org/design...kie_9986_R.jpg |

Some of the people that have commented on these threads are breeders of purebred yorkies, some for the show ring. I know the OP would like to will it to be a different outcome, but instead of making herself crazy, I would listen to what people that lives revolve around the breed say. So either get the DNA kit or let it go and enjoy you pup. |

Sweetie, Minnie is obviously very loved by you no matter what. And she is the cutest little thing. I love her coloring and her sweet face! :) I know you want to believe in your heart that she is a Yorkie, but you have experts (experienced Breeders and Showers of Yorkies) telling you that Minnie is not a pure Yorkie. She probably does have Yorkie in her, but she looks very much like a Miniature Doberman Pincher to me and to a lot of us. Also, that pic that was posted above of the Chorkie - that looks a lot like Minnie. With all of that said, you can get closure by getting a DNA kit and having her tested. Or you can keep it in your heart that she is a Yorkie, but if you want to keep that in your heart, you shouldn't ask us because we are not going to say that she is. It's kind of like my "Sheltie" - my big boy, Shelby-Dale, was sold to me as a bi-black Sheltie. I had CKC papers saying he was (found out years later that CKC is worthless). Anyway, many think he is mixed with Lab or Border Collie. I've always said that one day I will do a DNA test to find out, but I haven't. I mean, what does it hurt to believe he is a Sheltie, right? As long as I am not trying to sell him or breed him - he's just "My Sheltie". Right? :D Your Minnie is whatever you want her to be. But if you want to hold onto your beliefs, don't solicit opinions that are going to contradict your beliefs ;) |

[QUOTE=MandiesMom;4183763 Your Minnie is whatever you want her to be. But if you want to hold onto your beliefs, don't solicit opinions that are going to contradict your beliefs ;)[/QUOTE] Also as she grows and you are out and about with her, if you don't accept that you do not have a purebred you are going to continue to aggravate yourself when someone asks what she is. I often see people look at Lola thinking Ok she looks sort of like a yorkie but not exactly so I pipe right up and say she is a yorkie pom. I have read it here often from people that have off standard yorkies that people can down right insulting when someone asks them what their dog is and they say yorkie. |
1 Attachment(s) You are obviously looking for answers to what her actual breed is or you would not have started numerous threads asking our opinions. I think that a DNA kit is your best option on finding that out. Most of us who have raised and who have had Yorkies for years see something different than what you a new Yorkies owner/lover refuses to see. We can see that yes she may resemble and Yorkie or even be mixed with a Yorkie but she clearly IS NOT a pure breed Yorkie. The black and tan Mini Pinchers pups look like Yorkie pups when they are born. Just like Rottweiler puppies do. It isn't until they are about 3 weeks old that their looks start to change and they take on the breed characteristics. Below is a photo of a Mini Pin puppy, also a link to three weeks old Mini pin pups. mini pinscher three week old puppies - Google Search I suggest doing the DNA test in order to put your mind at ease. |
If I was to do a dna test which one would I buy?? Any recommendations anyone?? |
