maisy only threw up 2 times since i got her in august.... once after eating part of a dead lizzard, the other time was after she was given a weird green cookie at petco. |
Try putting a half teaspoon or so of corn Syrup (Karo) in her water. Sometimes the low blood sugar will cause them to throw up on an empty stomach and the Karo syrup helps. |
Yorkies who are prone to vomiting My yorkie is three years old and is now going through a bad stage of vomiting.. constantly. I did recently ween her off of her food and she is now eating Wellness lite. I find that the kibbles are too large for her, so I soak them in warm water for a couple of minutes. She has always enjoyed her food TOO much so therefore inhales it in about three seconds. Her vomit is usually more like bile, but this seems to be happening at least three to four times, daily. This has been happening on and off for the past couple of weeks. It is usually very small amounts, pea sized but it still can't be a good sign. She does have a history of having a sensitive stomach, but this is really becoming too frequent. It can't only be the Wellness food, since she has had this problem on two other lite foods that she has been on. Someone did tell me that Wellness could be too rich for many yorkies. Does anyone feed their yorkie wellness lite? Reese is always hungry, but again it could be that with all of her vomiting (as little as it may appear to be) her stomach is always empty. Any advice? She has been monitored by my vet, and tested for everything, and thankfully all comes back negative. I would appreciate any help that you can offer me, as well. Thanks. |
I'm certain your vet checked this out, too. Just a thought. Has he done any lab tests for pancreatitis? |
yorkie who is prone to vomiting Hi, I don't know if you are asking me that or the OP. Reese has been checked for pancreatis, and it came back negative. She has always just said that she has a very sensitive stomach but never recommended anything for it. When she does have diarrea, she will prescribe flagile (sp) which does work immediately. Other than that she has just told me to be cautious of what we feed her, ie: table food, etc. Rice will work very quickly to bind her stomach, but since she has a tendency to gain weight so easily, I do not love giving it to her. Someone had also mentioned corn syrup, which I was also told is very fattening. I have a two fold problem with Reese, since her stomach is so sensitive and she is overweight. You would think with her history of vomiting, she would be very thin. She isn't at all. Thanks for your thoughts, even if it wasn't directed toward me. |
