How often does your yorkie throw up? Joey goes through these "phases" where he doesn't throw up for a long time, and then it seems like he'll throw up twice a day for two days and it will stop. He's been to the vet a lot, so I know he's probably just coughing up dust balls or something...but I am just wondering if any of your dogs seem to throw up often? |

Gus has only vomited twice. One because he was playing too roughly and drand A LOT of water and the other time he got sick trying to pass a ear plug or yeah and he also vomited once when his sugar level got too low. But Nurtical did the trick. I did have a Pom who always vomited. She would get sick on car rides, on my bed, when scarde, or playing too roughly. The vet said she was also fine. Didn't ever know why she did it so much. |
Other than carsickness (poor little guy!), Joey has only vomited a couple of times. |
Jewels has a more sensitive stomach than Chachi. She always gets sick in the car and she has vommited at home a couple of times. |
Cali has only thrown up once when she went hypoglcemic, knock on wood, But my po use to throw upa a lot and have stomach problems until I stoped giving her pig ears. Ever since she has not thrown up. |
My dogs often throw up in the summer when they eat grass. It doesn't make them sick. They just end up with a piece in their throat that makes them gag. My cats even did this. Knock on wood (it's winter) my Yorkie hasn't thrown up yet.....which surprises me the way he gulps food down. Carol Jean |
Actually Dollar has never thrown up. |
Nope, not very pukey... Wosie has only thrown up once, and that was last week. I have no idea why, and it wasn't much, more like a spit up than a throw up. She was fine before and after. If your pup vomits a regularly you probably should speak to your vet. Good luck! :p |
I don't know if this is something all dogs do, or just mine.. But I have a larger dog (She's a mutt) who is trained to do her "business" outside. If we're gone all day and she doesn't get to go outside at her regular time, she'll throw up rather than go potty inside the house...Which is not all that great. I'd rather clean up poop than puke, but I guess it shows we did a pretty good job house training her. |
Shelby hurled more often when she was younger, rarely anymore. (morning bile) It seemed to happen on an empty stomach the day after she ate too many gunks. carpet pieces, dust balls, dried worms, brick, wood, cement...but she doesn't eat her poop YAY Now I keep her gated in small areas of my house so she can't get to anything "extra" on the floor. I can't let her in the backyard without backup to help me control her. Makes me crazy. I found that if I limit her gunk intake  and feed her FOOD immediately in the morning, the hurling stops. I talked to the vet about it and she said it happens sometimes, may have acid stomachs like some humans. she suggested giving her a little plain yogurt at bedtime, then feeding her early in a.m. if it is food he is vomiting up I don't know what causes that. good luck |
Only at the beginning of pregnancy . They don't have sensitive stomach . |
The only times Kacee threw up was one time a week after I had her when she had pulled the shell of a bug out of rocks and ate it. It didn't stay down long. :D Then she had a really bad time teething and she threw up a little a couple of times and that's it. |
Hope Joey is OK, Ask the Vet next time your there. Princess is almost three and she hasn't thrown up. |
I'd say that Stewie throws up about once a month. Usually after he's been outside eating grass. |
maisy only threw up 2 times since i got her in august.... once after eating part of a dead lizzard, the other time was after she was given a weird green cookie at petco. |
Try putting a half teaspoon or so of corn Syrup (Karo) in her water. Sometimes the low blood sugar will cause them to throw up on an empty stomach and the Karo syrup helps. |
Yorkies who are prone to vomiting My yorkie is three years old and is now going through a bad stage of vomiting.. constantly. I did recently ween her off of her food and she is now eating Wellness lite. I find that the kibbles are too large for her, so I soak them in warm water for a couple of minutes. She has always enjoyed her food TOO much so therefore inhales it in about three seconds. Her vomit is usually more like bile, but this seems to be happening at least three to four times, daily. This has been happening on and off for the past couple of weeks. It is usually very small amounts, pea sized but it still can't be a good sign. She does have a history of having a sensitive stomach, but this is really becoming too frequent. It can't only be the Wellness food, since she has had this problem on two other lite foods that she has been on. Someone did tell me that Wellness could be too rich for many yorkies. Does anyone feed their yorkie wellness lite? Reese is always hungry, but again it could be that with all of her vomiting (as little as it may appear to be) her stomach is always empty. Any advice? She has been monitored by my vet, and tested for everything, and thankfully all comes back negative. I would appreciate any help that you can offer me, as well. Thanks. |
I'm certain your vet checked this out, too. Just a thought. Has he done any lab tests for pancreatitis? |
yorkie who is prone to vomiting Hi, I don't know if you are asking me that or the OP. Reese has been checked for pancreatis, and it came back negative. She has always just said that she has a very sensitive stomach but never recommended anything for it. When she does have diarrea, she will prescribe flagile (sp) which does work immediately. Other than that she has just told me to be cautious of what we feed her, ie: table food, etc. Rice will work very quickly to bind her stomach, but since she has a tendency to gain weight so easily, I do not love giving it to her. Someone had also mentioned corn syrup, which I was also told is very fattening. I have a two fold problem with Reese, since her stomach is so sensitive and she is overweight. You would think with her history of vomiting, she would be very thin. She isn't at all. Thanks for your thoughts, even if it wasn't directed toward me. |
