Took Zach to the vet for his post surgery checkup. Another yorkie and her owner were there also. She asked if Zack was a purebred since he was sooo big (he weighs 7.1 lbs). I reminded her that 4-7 lbs is the breed standard.I was then told that her do was a "micro-mini at 2.8 lbs." I will admit her dog was cute, it's a yorkie after all. She then said she didn't like my dogs looks and his nose is too big. Am.I allowed to tell her that her nose and she is too big also? I think I would be willing to insure her nose is even bigger, if only for a short time. I didn't tell her that I have 2 dogs just as small.as hers at home.

some people...just oooooze rudeness. you shouldve.....lol

People can be so rude! Would they tell oyu your kids are too big or noses to long? No but they feel free to comment on our fur family.

I don't get why they think a 7 pound yorkie is so huge..
I've heard comments like that about my Oscar too and i just ignore the idiots :D

I don't know why people think that is okay... Would you say the same thing about someones child? Absolutely not! Then why is it okay to say it about someones pet?

i dont know.. i love all dogs and i would never say something rude or cruel to someone about their pet..

I would have let her have it but then that's just me. ;)

Some people are just plain mean and sense she was I might have taken the time to let her know there is no such thing as a teacup. People have no manners anymore.

Unforunately or fortunately, however you look at it I work with a rescue and we' re at Pet Smart every weekend people are starting to recognize me from there and from work. The friend who runs the rescue says I have to be nice. Which frequently sucks. I will say Zach is a cute little guy, very sweet. I had him shaved when I go him because of mats and because I knew I wouldn't be able to bathe him like I usually so he does't have his long hair as before. I do think the office staff was on Zachs side. He had spent a month with them before surgery and everyone loved him. But I did notice that it took almost 2 1/2 hours for them to get a healthcertificate for travel for their dog.

You are probably inately a nice person anyway. So, I don't think you should lower yourself to how others act. Ya know? Be you - you are better than those rude people. ;)

Some people are just not nice

I think those kind of people are so jealous of others that they feel the need to put others down. You MUST have a very cute yorkie for someone to comment negatively! :)

That is when you tell her you know "she is a very NEW Yorkie owner, or she would know that we Yorkie owners consider our babies to be almost from our own loins, and that there have been people KILLED for less serious offenses than the one she just so rudely uttered.....suggest maybe she needs to pull out her social etiquette manual and refresh her aging memory on "Things NOT to Say About a Strangers Child" lest you get the SNOT slapped out of you!"

wow... I honestly don't know what I would have done. :eek: If someone insulted my babies I may have gotten nasty!!

Where are when I need you. Also for you, she infomed the entire waiting room that all show dods are debarked because no one wants to hear that many dogs barking. When corrected she "disagreed", Sorry, can't quote, I don't use that language and I don't think it would be allowed.

wow is all I can say, I see you live in CA not sure what part, but she sounds like someone that is only concerened with having a designer purse puppy, maybe she is a friend of Paris Hilton's:D

I would have said, oh I see you bought he runt of the litter, did you get a discount for that and if I was you I would be very worried, perhaps you have not heard, but there are so many more health issues with the extra small runts :p:p (LOL I would only use that term runt, to someone like her that thinks she can be so blunt)

Oh my dog!! I would have loved to have been there...the rudeness of some people.

I'm in so cal, about 50-60 miles from LA. Happy to say I haven't met Paris. Doubt if they had either, don't seem like her type. I will admit I call my little ones runt or rat, but ONLY I can call them that. I got them at 4 and 5 years of age so I knew their health issues which so far seems to be only teeth issues. I will be leaving for mi tomorrow. Am I going to freeze? My blood has seemed to have thinned since I last lived there.

I do truly have come to believe at least for this short time, that ppl in Canada are much more polite, after reading numerous posts like this.

I've not really encountered that kind of rudeness very often.

And please I hope every-one knows that "ALL"show dogs are not debarked. Anyone that regularly attends shows can certainly attest to that fact!

I might have sweetly asked and how many multi champions do you own and show to be so very "knowledgeable" about the breed?

But I;ve shared before, I did get oh that tiney dog looks like a rat; of course this was when Razzle was all wet from swimming. It does help that I have a very self confident boy, who is NOT small at 6.5 lbs or so. And will aggressively bark at lots of strangers. I tend to ignore those comments. Just consider the source; do you really want to waste breath on those folks?


It also helps that when we walk/hike, you see the Big dog and the Little dog. So big dog folks go Wow that is one serious dog; and perhaps are more willing to give some allowances we have this frou frou dog; who is not a frou frou dog at all!. Who is walking not carried, we train him, just like the big ones. He swims and dock dives, and does (try) to be obedient.

Anyhoo to the OP just file her comments in G for garbage which is what they are and deserve just the same amount of time you spend to throw anything in the trash where it belongs;)

Well, sure....but what good would responding with a rude comment get you? Maybe some immediate satisfaction but how would you feel later! I guess, I would have just turned and walked away! You know it was rude....just don't lower yourself to her level is what I am saying!

Blow it off, give Zack a big hug and kiss and tell him how handsome he is. She is the simple minded person...not you!

Was she older? I find sometimes older people feel they have earned the right to say whatever they like. .. I actually find them funny...at times...you have to laugh at people like that...consider yourself lucky she isnt a relative.imagine what her family has to deal with if shes always like that..:tongue:

she's completely full of it, wow, it's hard to wrap my head around someone who is like that. So sorry.
