Pups with Long Hair
 
If you have a pup with the long hair, what shampoo and conditioner do you use?

I have tried so many that do well on Mikki. Rosie is another story. I found one I liked, IV San Bernard, but it's really expensive. DH isnt going for it! :p.

What has worked or not worked?

I just started using Espree and really like how silky Mason's coat feels.

Lexie's hair isn't floor length, but long enough. I use Espree Show Style Silky Show shampoo & conditioner that I get at Espree

They're 12.50 each for 12 oz., so not that expensive. I love the products. I also use their Show style High Sheen finishing spray which gives a great shine.

Are you having any tangles? I brush Rosie twice a day at least.

I use Minksheen and pantene conditioner and it leaves the hair pretty silky and my Jewels has a modified coat. Ive have always wanted to order the Iv san bernard but you have to spend $75 to place an order and my husband wouldnt go for that

You don't have a min order any more. But I promise it doesn't take long to spend $75. :D

No tangles here. He has a very silky coat and doesn't mat. I only brush him as needed or when he is just relaxing on my lap.

No tangles really. Only when she wears clothes, she get minor tangles around the shoulders. I brush once a day at most. She's silky and curly.

I think windy weather and water quality are affecting my boys' coats, and my hair as well. We all are suffering dullness, dryness, and tangles.

I used Espree the last 2 baths with our Bio-Groom Creme Rinse and the shampoo has helped a lot.

Bring on Spring. :)

Do you like the Espree Kristen? I would blame weather but Mikkis hair is ok.

I have used that too. Love the smell. And love the detangler. Just think Rosie's hair needs an extra "something".

Yes, I've have used it off and on the last couple of years. I like to switch around products.

I agree, can't blame weather if Mikki's hair is ok.

I just purchased the isle of dogs oatmeal shampoo and conditioner for Joey. It makes his hair soft and he hardly gets tangles.
Carley gets ketochlor shampoo and selsun blue :( poor girl has bad skin.

Reigns hair is not that long, but he has enough to put up in a pony tail. I mostly use yorkie splash and shine conditioner and shampoo. Otherwise I use mane and tail shampoo and conditioner. His hair does not tangle and is very soft. I just brush him, the comb just goes through. I am not sure if he still has a puppy coat because it seems silky, but I doubt at 4 months he already has his adult coat.

Sometimes I mix 2 or 3 conditioners/creme rinses together, apply it then let it sit longer on a dry coat. Or I'll apply Coconut oil to the coat a day or two ahead of bath time to give it time to really penetrate the coat and skin.

I use Yorkie Splash and Shine, Shampoo , Conditioner and Tangle Spray and we Love it! Everyone always comments on how good Tucker smells up to a week and half after his bath!

I use Kong shampoo and conditioner. I've tried a few different ones and Kong is the only one that makes Lily smell good, which is really important to me lol, and makes her hair look silky and really silver. Also, she is less mated when I use it. I also brush her about 3x a week. When we moved here to Japan I tried all sorts of different shampoo/conditioner and ended up ordering the Kong one on Amazon.

I have used Therapet Fresh Scent shampoo since Huey was a puppy. I have tried a couple of other brands but I always end up going back. He smells so good with this brand! I am upset the conditioner is no longer made so I just use a human conditioner- Pantene Pro V- on him and that keeps him very silky and soft. I do have the Therapet Fresh Scent cologne, too, for those occasional smell touch ups, but he hates the spray bottle! :eek:

I really like the Biogroom Fluffy Puppy shampoo & their Silk conditioner. It isn't cheap, but I get the gallon jugs of it from Pet Mountain, with the free shipping, and then put it in a spray bottle and dilute it with water according to directions and it lasts forever.
I ran out a few months ago and started using dollar store baby shampoo. It screwed her hair up so bad. The gray/silver started turning yellowy. Just awful. Finally getting it back into shape. The Pantene (human) non-breaking formula conditioner is pretty good too, and a lot cheaper.

:(:( Poor Luma! Gonna lose that pretty hair. Her skin is doing better, though, right? I remember in an old thread she was having terrible itchy problems. I hope her new sister isn\'t as stinky as Guinness\'s! :yelrotflm
