Call your Vet. When in doubt it is always safer to go to the vet. If you have a smart phone ask them if you can send them the picture you posted here. My Vet's office does have an way to get smart phone pictures. It is very handy. |
I would take her into the vet. Looks like something is protruding that should not be. Keep us updated. |
Not to worry you, but Teeka had her spay done 10 days ago and her staple came out yesterday. Her incision did not look like that. What kind of "staples" or stitches are those? I have never seen those before. I would go to the vet and get it checked! |
I don't like the looks of that either. I would take her back in. |
I would definitely take that baby to the vet. That protrusion looks like it could be part of her intestine. That cannot be left that way. Infection is sure to occur if it hasn't already begun. Do not wait, go directly to your vet and get her taken care of. I wouldn't even make an appointment as they will probably want to put her on antibiotics right away, if she isn't already on them. They will fit you in. Good luck and please let us know how things go. |
i agree to call or vet to be seen that looks like its painfully wrapped....hope everything turns out ok. |
just left the vet... They still say it is where the stitches are tight.. he says it has a happy in puckered . that it is not infected. and nothing to worry about. he said when he removes the stitches the skin will go back...ugh.. I'm not happy with that vet at all. he acts like it is no big deal.. well to me it is.. thanks for liste.ning to me vent |
My Chloe had her spay 1 week ago today and it doesn't look like that at all either. If you're not happy, I would take her to another vet and see what they say. Please keep us posted. |
I can't help but worry. And the vet shows no concern what so ever.. |
That stinks!! I can't believe he is acting like he doesn't care! I hate that, Vets should care! Can you take her into another vet to get a second opinion? Poor baby! |
I live in a very small town only 1 veterinary clinic.. next nearest town only 1 there.. they can her in till Friday. still checking some other towns. |
Poor girl! Is she bothered by her incision? I definitely do not think it should look like that. It looks like the vet used sewing thread to close her incision. My male and female both had dissolvable stitches and they did not look like that. |
No she acts completely fine.. playing and eating just like nothing ever happened.. I have the stitch she took out.. I will post a pic of it |
Okay, a couple of things - The way it is stitched up is not uncommon. I don't like that method, but it IS what the vet used on Mandie. Her's looked just like that EXCEPT the part that is a different color and shiny. That part concerns me. What did he say about that part? That is what we are all looking at and thinking it looks like something protruding. What I am concerned about is the coloring and texture of the skin (which I think it is skin, btw). It looks like it might not be getting the correct circulation to it. I dunno. He specifically looked at that part and said it was fine? Second thing - I would definitely change vets if at all possible. I was not happy with the vet that did Mandie's spay so I changed. Her spay was fine, but I didn't like that type of stitching (by the way - months later and you can't even tell hardly, so don't worry about that). Don't stay with a vet you are not 100% trusting of or you'll never get sleep. If that part that is discolored changes at all, I would find another vet even if you need to go to another town. |
