I couldnt remember what Hueys ears did, but I found a photo at 7 weeks old and they were down and another photo at 13 weeks and they were up. I remember having his first groom and they tipped his ears so they would stand up, (after I told them not to...), but they were already standing intermittantly before then. I love the fringe look, too, and his big ears have never been trimmed since that first time. |
He sure is a cutie. |
Quick update. 17 weeks today and still the other ear has not popped up yet. I shaved his ears again last night. I attempted to tape them but he was not having anything to do with it after taping each ear. When I went to tape the 2 together he went nuts. Then I got to thinking that obedience class is tonight so I didn't want his classmates making fun of him so I will try again tomorrow to tape him. |
Just keep the hair trimmed and they should stand up unless she has thinker ears. Sometimes the thicker ears tend to not stand or stand only half way up or one up and one down. Those big ears are cute . . . |
Good decision. I wouldn't want his classmates to make fun of him :) |
I'm not surprised he went nuts, they will stand up in there own time. My three older babies ears are up without the need of tape, just give nature a chance |
Jersey is now 9 months old and I'm still having trouble with one ear....I tape them and the right ear stays up for a day...by morning it has flopped over!:confused: I asked her breeder if it was time to give up, I was told no, keep taping!! Poor baby, the left has stood on its own from the first taping, way back at five months! |
Myself I am totally against taping their ears. If you dont know what your doing it can be very painful for them when changing the tape. I prefer shaving. Plus massaging the ears help. Just remember to apply soft but firm pressure. If you do choose to tape them, find someone who can show you how to do it propperly. |
2 Attachment(s) I had a foster, Isabella, who came to me at 3 months of age with one ear up and one down. The other ear went up when she was 5.5 months old. Her ears also looked large on her...she has grown into them....her parents send me pics often. :) Attachment 383871 Attachment 383872 |

:::sigh::: will that ear ever stay up permanently?? |
My groomer told me that shaving does not work. I know a lot of people swear by it, but it makes sense to me that if an ear is going to go up, it will hair or no hair. |
On Guinness I had to tape one ear BUT I cheated and used the tape gauze.. Stella on the oher hand has thick thick fur so I shaved them so I could tape them and both stood up as soon as I took all the weight off them. |

I did notice this morning in the car his right ear standing up briefly on its own. Guess I'll just hold off on the tape for now. |

My BF says don't worry about it if only one goes up. He can have one curtain and one closed shade. Needless to say I was not amused. lol  |
