And you know how things can get twisted around to make what would seem like it would be exempt, suddenly is swept up in the frey....well, I was JUST falling asleep and heard on the TV...but did not catch it all, or how it is going to work specifically, but CELL PHONES, I think those Smart phones, are somehow going to get swooped up and somehow included in this "medical device" thing....boy, just LOOK at all the billions of dollars in taxes collected off the inclusion of smart phones as medical devices!!!!! All you breeders had better quick buy dopplers if you are wanting them....stethoscopes and blood pressure monitoring devices as well...blood sugar machines too....did I mention hearing aides????.....eye glasses????

This country is going in the wrong direction and has been. With increased taxes and increased regulations we are already paying more for alot of things and it will just continue as they want increased revenue

At our house it will mean,less fluffy spending (not that there was much to begin with), more saving so the $$ will be there for pets and people. Yes it is going to get tuffer all the way around. You can choose to be scared,not really a productive option or you can choose to work towards being prepared. I am in my mid 50s,from here it doesnt look very good. Right now I have 3 family members in a nursing facility (the same one thank goodness) for various reasons and it is tuff.

Amen Charlene! Hubby and I pray daily that God will help our leaders make the right choices.... Like you said, not much we can do about it.

Agreed.

I wish more people would speak up instead of saying "that sucks, but what can I do?"

Sign a petition or march to congress...the more voices that are raised the more that they'll be forced to do.

Don't forget that the government is supposed to work for The People. NOT the other way around.

Since the new health care laws were made in an attempt to lower current health care costs for humans I fail to see why our pet's medical costs for equipment or otherwise should be effected. We already pay huge amounts of money when going to a vet. Why should we have to suffer increases in our pet's vet bills? Someone needs to take a close look at this. Something is not right.

Well... the new healthcare laws are certainly not lowering healthcare costs for most of us although that's what the claim was. The exact opposite is true! Unfortunately medical equipment,cost of medicines, doctors, vets and our insurance is all rising. They make no distinction between animals and people. You can bet it will get even worse in 2014.

The new health care laws were not intended to lower health care costs. Someone always pays somewhere. The only way prices could be lowered would be to legislate caps on prices of care and equipment.

The intent was to make healthcare available to the uninsured by shifting the cost elsewhere -- i.e. through taxes on everyone, and to businesses with employees, which in turn pass the cost along to customers through price increases.
