You are never supposed to brush dry hair, it does not have to be really wet, but a conditioning spray to dampen the hair should be used. That helps prevent damage to the hair. |
any condition spray's that you can reccomend? got a link by chance? |
I use a flea comb because it helps get all the little tangles out. If you use a wide bristle brush it doesnt brush it throughly IMO Also I am interested in know what kind of conditioning spray everyone else uses too....any suggestions? I usually just use water. |

Wow I didn't realize I was doing wrong. Love all the suggestions!!! :D |
I bought my boar brush at a beauty supply store. (for humans) I bought my pin/slicker brush here http://www.chrissystems.com/ I also love their shampoo and conditioner (Day to Day line) and their Ice On Ice conditioning spray is awesome. I spray her before I brush her all the time!!! It's awesome stuff it works wonders but it depends on your dogs hair type because on Adina it works great but when I used it on Joy her coat looked oily. It took me a while to find a shampoo and conditioner to suit Joy. i use Coat Handlers on her!!!! |
Thanks adinasmom, I just went to that site and bought the shampoo, conditioner, and ice on ice! |
Pin Cusion Brush The formal name for it is Pin Cusion Brush, you can find it @ any pet store; Petsmart, Petco etc. No matter what kind of brush you use and no matter what type of hair your pet has? None of that matters if you brush the hair without a leave in conditioner spray, if you don't use one the hair will break and split/fall off. The pin cusion brush will make the hair look silky, but if your pet is still a puppy? The hair won't be soft and silky until they have fully matured. That is really the best kind of brush to use on this breed in general. Plus with the daily use of a leave in conditioner instead of having to bathe them once every week, you can get away with bathing them once every 2 weeks, which helps from drying their skin out. :) |
