Thats terrible :( Probably best to go at earlier time if you get a chance. poor Luma. i hope she is ok. I would have probably floored the lady for being so ridiculous. |
Poor baby. I would have been livid....you were by far nicer than I would have been! She would have gotten an earful...seriously! I'm fuming just reading this...urghhh! People just amaze me sometimes! |
Is there no official that you can report this type of activity to? A public dog park is there because of your TAX DOLLARS! You have paid for the right to bring your dog there and not be harassed or threatened by another dog or person. I would have to write to the City Official in charge of the Park and have that situation addressed. JMHO:mad: |
That just stinks! Good for you for controlling yourself... I don't know how I would have handled that.... On another note.... Wish we HAD a dog park! Lol |
In my over protective opinion, dogs running loose, mixture of all kinds of dogs, all sizes of dogs, all kinds of crazy owners of those dogs, fleas, ticks, worms, and lordy only knows what in the world all those other dogs are carrying, and dog parks specifically designed to allow this, is EXACTLY why I would never take my dog to a dog park! Wasnt it poor little Luma that got attacked by a loose dog almost in your driveway? I would be terrified to expose my baby to ANY other dog running loose in public, after THAT attack! I figure eventually, the law of averages will catch up with me..... |
About Dog Parks. Some people know I am a trainer. My SUV has Caution K-9 on the side and back windows. I often do training at the dog park. So yes, I do I take mine. It took awhile to find a dog park I liked. It is not the closest to my house but, it is the nicest. It is a divided park. The Small side is posted twenty five pounds or less. Large is posted All Dogs over twenty five pounds. A few times I have gathered mine and left because some one had an aggressive dog, or an in tact male that was hump crazy or large breed puppy on the small side that harassed my older dogs. Most of the time my dogs enjoy the park and I think interaction is good for them. I know it is up to me to pay attention and keep them safe. I have to pass out cards rather than sit and talk, yes I am a trainer, but dog park I am a Yorkie Mama. ( I also keep a spray bottle of water hanging on jeans belt loop and have sprayed an over enthusiastic humper who was bugging my girls !) The owner was not happy but, my girls were. I am not advising that anyone do that though ! I lost my temper after asking him to stop his dog about five times. He just laughed and said My dog is a real dog you know, not a fru fru one like yours. So I squirted him. Carman, I know I would have gotten angry too. I am very protective of my Yorkies and some people are so stupid about things that can trigger a fight. You did the right thing by leaving. Hugs |
OMG, I am so glad that Luna is ok |

I was thinking the same think I do go to dog parks, I do not take my shih tzu because he doesnt like dog parks..he gets very stressed and tries to protect me from the big dogs. He is 26 pounds but a reall sweet heart Remy ...loves running around and making friends. I will leave is a larger dog comes into the small area. I never stay long because after about 15 minutes of running around the two want to sit on my lab..time to go home:) I much rather have play dates... there are many times I have 6 or more dogs in my house..this comming week end will be one of those times:D |
Please tell me it was the owner you squirted!! :D |

alot of dog parks over here have websites and facebook pages. I would video tape this dog next time and post the behaviour on the site for the people who put the park up to see. also write your city. is a 30 pound dog suppose to be in the small dog park? |

But first, I would do what was suggested above by putting in a complaint. If enough are received, they'll hire someone for a day or two to supervise. She may or may not be there during that time, but at least others will be aware of it and might put enough pressure on her to move her dog to the appropriate area. What a punk! |
