| Hello everyone I'm a fairly new puppy parent to a 10wk old yorkie named Bai'lee Chanel she's small with biggggg attitude and she is curious about everything. I must say the apple doesn't fall very far from the tree because im the same way. Ive never owned a yorkie before so im still working out the logistics like how to stop the Biting or Excessive barking difficulty potty training or how big my pups actually going to get she's 10 weeks and still 2 pounds. I welcome any puppy parents that understand my new journey because it seems like I have a wordless map but I love every second of it. Hope to see new friends soon. Bailees Mom |

| Hi and welcome to Yorkie Talk!! You have just become owned by a wonderful Yorkie. Enjoy the ride! ![]() Let's see: 1) Excessive barking - you will want her to bark as an alert so don't stop it completely. Let her bark a couple of times and then say, "Enough" and maybe try rattling a can with some pennies in it. If that doesn't work, try a squirt bottle with water. 2) Biting - she is teething like crazy right now and will be for a few months. Get her some good chew toys and chew treats. When she bites you or something you don't want her biting, say a stern "no bite" and then put what she can chew in her mouth and say, "good girl" (just be consistent with this..she'll catch on) 3)Potty training - ugh! LOL Sorry, but I've had several different breeds and my Yorkie is by far the hardest I've had to train. Baille Chanel is only 10 weeks old so her bladder is super small. Remember that and have patience. She can't hold it for long at all. If you cannot be with her 24/7, then you will need to get an xpen set up for her (have her bed, food, water, toys, and pee pads in there). If you can be there, crate training is the best, but again..she's super small and can't hold it, so I wouldn't even try crate training until she was 4 months (others may disagree..this is my feeling on it). Bottom line is, she will need to be able to "go" every 2 hours for quite some time..until she's big enough to hold. Take her to her pee pad and just stay there until she goes. When she does, praise praise praise. You could treat too..many do. As with everything else, consistency and patience. Remember, she will have accidents, which really are our own fault because we aren't being vigilant enough. You may think she's "there" and then she suddenly regresses a bit...it will happen. Expect it and just start from the beginning if it does. One tip that I will give, mine does NOT like to pee and poop on the same pad..I always put two down (one in front of the other). Glad you joined us and post pics when you can! OH! One more tip - keep nutrical on hand. Your little one is still a tad young to be away from mommy. These young ones can get hypoglycemia. Look up those symptoms and be on the look out ok? Nutrical will become a lifesaver if it happens.

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk our library has tons of information. Every thing from training your dog, grooming, feeding, health issues, barking and potty training. Now is the time to set boundaries, rules and teach acceptable behavior. What your puppy learns now will become the foundation of her adult personality. I suggest reading some good training books, like 1000 Best Dog Training Secrets by Robyn Achey and Bill Gorton

| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | WELCOME to YT! Lol, you sound like a lot of us when we got our first yorkie too....especially when you say that she doesn't seem to know she is only 2 lbs. I swear, yorkies think they're Great Danes.
