OMG!!!! Everyday Miracle!!!
 

You won't believe! My hands are still shaking... If all of these things hadn't happened, my little Liberty and my home would be gone - Got my car inspected, went to pick up a book I'd ordered, my car wouldn't start, the road-side service got to me within 9!!! minutes, I decided not to to do the other errands I'd planned, went home, opened a window blind to give a bonsai tree more light, saw tiny wisps of smoke out of the corner of my eye, traced it back to a lighted mirror on my vanity (the mirror was redirecting the light beams) and stopped a fire as it started igniting on my vanity!!! My baby wouldn't have a way out if I'd been gone.... But I was there, those things happened as they did, and I caught it before everything got going. Moral of the story: when you think you're having a bad luck day - it might be a blessing in disguise... and miracles do happen!!! :lovewings:exclaim::exclaim::exclaim::exclaim::ang elyork

I totally believe that! I am so happy to hear your car broke down. Seriously! Amazing story!!

I don't always remember it for myself, but I do tell myself..just think..if you are delayed by something annoying, that could actually be God keeping you from harm's way.

Car doesn't start so you go home instead of taking the chance it won't again and are there to stop a disaster starting right before your very eyes! I'd say that is close to miracle status and more than I can take in. The fact that you came into the area just as the ignition started is amazing. What a close call. If that car had worked right, you might have shopped on and on and come home to nothing but horror and loss. Praise the Lord! I still can't take it all in and I imagine, neither can you. This is one for the books!

Yes, we are VERY blessed! I'm still in a state of shock and awe but sooooo very grateful. Truly bizarre and blessed sequence of events. Never have I been so happy to have my car break down. Happy dance all night!!!!!!

OMG... Your 'guardian angel' did a great job directing you, and you did a fantastic job at playing along! I am so glad you followed your 'instincts'...your inner guidance. Things do happen for reasons, and you did good this time!!! Not only do I believe in every day miracles, I live for them. Tons of hugs. :)

Wow, how amazing! My grandparents lost their home, possessions and pets this summer in a fire and it is not something you ever want to experience. I am always thinking about fire hazards... It's not something I will probably ever get over. I am so glad you did not have to experience it. Thank goodness!!

wow, what a close call! Sometimes when you have bad luck and especailly a bunch of bad luck at once it's hard to remember that maybe that is what is supposed to happen. Things have a way of working out- I'm so glad everything worked out ok!

What a day indeed. The thought of what might have happened is terrible. They say everything happens for a reason and sometimes bad things are blessings in disguise. Glad all is well.

So very sorry about your family's loss. I imagine that's something that will always haunt all of you. Coming so close to losing my fur-baby and my children's photos, memorabilia, etc., really gives one a new perspective on what's important. Still in a kind of shock, watching Liberty run around the house playing, with no clue as to how close it all got, all because of something that seemed so benign - a portable vanity mirror and sunshine, for Pete's sake. After each use, am now unplugging it, putting it in bottom of walk-in closet, closing closet door, keeping shades drawn, and covering built-in mirror on the vanity covered with towel. Looks like a paranoid person lives here now. :eek:

What did you say was smoking? Was it something paper or cloth and did you ever see an actual flame or got there before the actual flame started?

It was the wood on the top part of my vanity. My vanity sits next to a large, southern window. On the vanity I kept a lighted makeup mirror (it is two sided) as the vanity's built-in oval mirror is over an arm's length away and my tired eyes need magnification to put on my "eyes". The window was only partially open for safety as I'd left home. I went over to the window to open up further so my plant could get more light. I saw something wispy and, on further inspection, noticed it was curling. Then I thought oh S***t, that's smoke! A flash caught my eye and I grabbed the shirt on the vanity's wood, the wooden part that holds the built-in mirror to the oval frame. I put the spark out and then ran and got wet towel and soaked the area. It happened so fast I actually don't remember going to get the towel :confused: As a souvenir, I have a scorched line there. Apparently, the back side of the lighted mirror (the electric one) reflected some sun that was already coming in from the window back the opposite way, onto the wood. Too crazy to anticipate something like this - that's part of what makes it so scary! Didn't know how to shorten this description.

Glad your car wouldn't start and then you went home when they came to give you a jump. You saved your house and your fur baby. God was watching out for you. I have stickers in my front bay window and back slider that I have a dog (Amy) in the house if there is a fire or anything else that would happen
