Yorkie Yakker | ![]() Being a new Yorkie parent is like having kids! We love it and keep finding out new things..... Goliath will sit any where we put him and he is always quiet and just sits and watches what is going on around him. BUT no matter where he is sitting....in his carrier in the air port or in the shopping cart baby seat or in my arms he will watch what is happening real quiet...when a little human falls into his site...he starts with his low grrrrrrr and if the little human looks at him he will start barking and barking!!! Is that built in, why would he do that.... it is almost as if he knows that the kid would come up and pull his tail or something.... I don't think he would ever bite but I wouldn't let Goliath get any closer if it is a stranger..... So far in my family he hasn't met any of our young family members so I don't really know what Goliath would do. What I do know is he barks and barks at any kid he sees!!

I think he needs to be introduced to well-behaved children that will be no threat to him.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | ![]() I agree.... looks like its time for some interaction with some children and people of all ages. It best to socialize them at a young age rather than wait until they are benign to any human contact by strangers young or old.

| ![]() Definitaly get him around childern of all ages, and when you do, give the childern a few of his favorite treats to give him. And don't hold him while doing this. Let him be on a short leash where you have control. Always carry tiny treats when your out and about with him, and each time your close to any childern, ask their parent if the child could give your dog one of his treats. Generally people are really helpful that way. When my girls were all tiny (soon as I adopted them) I had them out around people and childern all the time, and encouraged childern of all ages to hold them if they wanted. I loved when they would ask if they could pet or hold them. ![]()

YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() I have 9 grandkids, ages ranging in 1 1/2 to 9 yrs. Teeka loves to greet them when they come over. I don't allow them to carry her around for fear of her jumping or falling. They have to sit, preferably on the floor! She prefers for them to play with the toys w/her. She always wants to give kisses, too. I wonder if they like kids because they are smaller in size and active! Maybe they just instinctively know that kids like to play! ![]()

| ![]() I run a daycare from home and my pups love the kids (and any kids) to death! They never bark at any kids but Roxie will bark at the parents. LOL ![]() I say introduce and socialize with some well mannered little ones. ![]()

YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() We have 18 grand kids and one great grand and all mine ever want to do is kiss them until they are sloppy. Lol. However, our girls were always around the kids so they were socialized very early with children.

| ![]() I have 8 grandchildren & Baxter just loves them. When he sees them he goes nuts trying to get in their arms. He gets so excited.

| ![]() Troy loves kids! And if it's a little girl he is all over her. I think that your pup needs some kid socialization, just as others have advised. I don't think its something that's ingrained in your dog, just something that he is unsure about.
