Indoor Potty Recommendations? OK so I admit to being a softie and not making Henry go outside as much as he should when the snow is 33"...or when it's raining...or cold. Anyway, he pees a lot on this ONE rug which is next to our upstairs bathroom so that's kind of a good thing, at least he knows that's where to go! But now I need to step it up for him. I see a lot of these indoor doggie toilet things - can anyone recommend one? I'm only working a little bit now so money is an issue - I saw this as on CL but I read reviews that said it wasnt great: The Throne Pet Dog Indoor Toilet So, looking for advice from my YorkieTalk friends...thanks in advance! |
I bought something similar and Buster did not like the astro turf so I was getting dirt less sod and cutting it and putting in it. But it was in my bathroom and between watering the grass and cutting new sod and the expense I went back to pee pads. I have both the disposable and the washable. I happened to come across this thread as well http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ds-sample.html I don't know about the seller but a free trial pad sounds good. For the throwaway kind I love PS given your YT name are you a music editor? I record ADR. |

Ruby's breeder had her trained on the fake grass potty. She told me she didn't spend much on them ans gave me the name...sorry I can't remember the name but I got it off drugstore.com and w their coupon they sometimes have going for new customers I got it for under $30 and free shipping. Im ordering a new one soon...its lasted me about 9 months...the ends are kind of fraying but the Rubemeister doesn't care and will do her deed on it!! |

Don't know what anyone's reaction to this will be. Did find a thread on this from last year or the year before. It seemed a bit polarizing as far as opinions. But I invested in the potty training puppy apartment. Modern Puppies - Potty Training a Puppy 2 factors are that we live in an apartment, and I work full time. Also, it's still winter and that I don't want him outside where the other local dogs go until all his shots are done and he is old enough for flea/tick/heart worm protection. So I made this investment. I got Bentley on Saturday and the PTPA did not arrive until Wednesday. So before that it was an playpen with pee pads out. He was hit and miss when he was allowed out to play. Many accidents were just outside his pen so it was not a matter of being too far away. After setting it up and introducing him to it, it was playtime. He was back the hall when all of a sudden he made a beeline for the kitchen where his apartment was, hopped in and did his business. I was shocked. He's gone from 50% accuracy to I would easily say 95-99% accuracy. The 2 accidents he has had I will admit, unintentionally I basically set him up for failure. But even after the accidents, he get's right back on track. Once he's all trained using the apartment and he's able to go outside I'll let him start to potty outside as well. I just really needed something that I felt he had space to do his business while I'm at work. Once I know he's at almost 100% accuracy I will end up either buying their fencing or come up with something on my own to give him a "play yard" during the day. Bentley's very content with it and I could not be happier. |
Hi Sean, I am actually Carolyn Katie was Busters date for a Yorkie Talk event. I haven't ridden for a while but my brothers do. The are members who ride on YT. With the indoor units you have to deal with the cleaning of the trays and the grass as the yellow flows down and pools leaving residue and the poop well you will have to wash the grass as poop leaves residue too. The crate is a good idea for puppies but Buster is good so he has run of the place while I am at work. For me the pads work because i have less cleaning up to do as I have a separate closed lid trash bin reserved for the pads in my bathroom I just pick up the poop and flush it. I use a steam cleaner for the floors as the steam kills bacteria and I don't have to use harsh cleaning products. The Global paw print is a bit large with the amount of pads going to landfill so you can use the washable ones if you want. You can buy them online cheaper. I always rinse them in the tub before I throw them in the washer. YT member Carmeow posted this photo http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/att...67401301_n.jpg |
