Silly question- I really want to hear your responses! So, I'm sitting here reading a few posts & Bella comes nudging my leg. I turn sideways to see what she wants & she "climbs the ladder" of my outstretched legs into my lap. She's always done this when she just wants to chill in my lap so I think nothing of it but today it made me wonder if there's other pups that do this or similar things to tell you what they want. I know lots of people use bells when their pups want to go out but I KNOW there's gotta be other quirky dogs out there besides my Bella! Let's hear those funny little things your pup does stories :D |
Aww, that's so cute! Moka does a lot of funny things. She hits me! She'll come prancing up to me like she's going to jump but her back legs stay on the ground, and she uses her front legs to hit me, and push back off of me only it happens real quick. She does this when she wants me to feed her. She can actually knock me off balance if I don't see her coming. She'll also get right in your face and plop over like a fainting goat, if she wants you to rub her tummy. You have to be careful because she'll fall right on the floor if you don't catch her. She is very trusting, and lucky for her it works! :D Mylee is not so sneaky. When she wants something, she just tells you. Verbally. |
Farley paws at my face over and over each time i quit petting him. He is on me whenever i sit. And if he isnt getting a "full body massage" he lets me know about it! And doesnt give up until i start again. He also sits at the hallway starting around 8pm barking at me to go to bed, lol My husband always says afton farley wants you to go to bed with him! Lol And i always end up going early and reading a book so farley can have what he wants:D |
Kyra will do the same when she needs to go out she climbs right up your chest and stares you in the eye. Laddy if his dish is empty will bring it to you and plop it down at your feet lol. |
Tuffy will "ring" the water or food dish if I've overlooked the water level or he's hungry :) He used to bring me his food bowl but I switched from the stainless bowls when we got Bella. |
The silliest thing mine do is bark and cry when the ice cream man goes down the street to let us know they want ice cream. The ice cream man has little ice cream cups just for us. It tickles him they do that |
Raelle jumps on the back of my legs if her water bowl is empty...Orion does the flop over thing whenever I call him over to get brushed...beats me on that one...Jersey tells you verbally whenever she wants something. |
Oh & the silly cat wrestles with himself in the mirror :p I definitely think the Yorkies are smarter! |
Joel fake stretches on you when he wants something |
Mandie does a lot of silly things but what cracks me up the most is when she fusses at me for being on the computer. She'll just come up to me and start talking and yammering. I hear her in the other room right now just a talkin to her daddy about something lol Not a Yorkie, but I had to share this. My Shelby...when he has to go out, he doesn't go to the door or bark at you. Nope. He will come to where ever you are and sit RIGHT in front of you and just stare at you. Cracks me up lol |
Riley LOVES to take her first piece of food and throw it in the air and across the room! She then will pounce on the food, roll on top of if and finally eat it! It's too cute! |
Scooter and Little Bit will scratch at me with their paw until I pick them up |
These stories are all really fun.y and cute!!! :D The first thing I see when I open my eyes each and every morning is Luma standing on my chest and peering down at me, with her long hair hanging down around her and slightly tousled. She is relkibg me to get up so we can go running. When she wants food she will talk and talk...not barking, but making odd chirps and trills lol :) She will walk over to the cabinet where her food is and scratch at the door. At the dog park when she is ready to go she will go lay by the gate where you exit and stare me down until I come over and hook her harness up. |
One more...:) Lumas toys are all in a hamper that is pretty tall. She has to jump in. She goes in and sifts through each toy until she finds the specific one she wants. It can take a while. Finally she pulls it out and if she tips the basket over, she picks each toy up and drops it in the hamper, jumping in and out for each toy. Oh, and she LOVES my coworker Andy. Like...he is her special human friend. Those two will roll around on my kitchen floor. :D She loves all humans, but Andrew is her favorite and when I say his name she tilts her head and runs to the door. |

Also Uni will cry and whimper at 7:59am when she's not supposed to get breakfast until 8am. Now I need to push it back to 9 bc otherwise she's (fake?) starving by noon and lunch isn't until 3! Lily, my last foster, would wake me up by licking me in the mouth. I'm a mouth breather when I sleep so that wakes me up real quick! |
Let me just say that Sapphire's new nickname is 'Hamster'. |
:lol tears I am really enjoying all of these comments and looking forward with what Sophie will come up with. In the mean time, ya'll are good for a real belly laugh!! Thanks! :lol tears:sidesplt: |

Izzy, oh Izzy, she has a couple of things. One is her ritual going to bed at night. I shared this I believe in the GE thread - she will stand at the top of my husband's head on his pillow and lick his head/face like she's cleaning him. Then she will come over to me, give me one really quick kiss and then she goes and lays down. Also, Jack will paw at his blanket to "make his bed." He kind of just scratches at his blankets and arranges them into a big ball that looks rather uncomfortable, but he must like it. Izzy hasn't gotten down the scratching part (only on my legs) and she will literally bounce on all fours (reminds us of a rabbit) and while she jumps up in the air, she turns so she is circling and jumping at the same time. Not even sure if her blankets get messed up, but it is hysterical to watch. (We will try to get video to share). The other thing she does, if my husband or I sneeze, she has to stop whatever it is she is doing and run over to us to make sure we are okay. As soon as we say thank you for checking on us she will resume what it was she was doing before we sneezed. |
Too darn funny!...we sure have a lotta smart pups around here ;) |

Well our Max does the "spin" by the door when he wants outside. He also know when his "Alan" is coming home from work as he sits on the back of the couch and watches for the truck. Then when he sees it coming from the road he whines and whines until it stops in the drive. Then it is a race to the door to "spin" with excitement! Teeka, is my baby and she will paw at my leg to lift her onto my lap. When I go to lift her, she gives a little leap into my had to "help" me to the lap! When it is lunch time and I begin to fix her lunch she stands at my feet whining and barking. It is as if she is telling me to hurry up because she just might starve to death, waiting! She also has gone to my bedroom door and barked to let me know she is ready for bed! Then when it is time to lay down, she has to get under the covers and curl up in the croak of my arm for the night@ They all have their own personality and quirks that make them so lovable and such awesome companions! :) |
Wallee uses his nose to bump me. If I dont acknowledge him he will start grumbling. If that fails, he will let out a very shrill bark. He is too vocal for his own good some days. |
Max and Teddy both use their paws to tap me on the leg to get my attention. They both do sits to beg for things. Max talks like Astro from Jetsons to let me know things. My favorite is Teddy when he needs something. He gets my attention and I have to ask a series of questions to figure out what he wants. When I get to the right question, Teddy turns in a circle and wags his tail. :) |

I got a good one !!!! Our bella will go sit at the door to the patio and slap the blinds to go out to pee on her pee pad....once i let her out she will go to her pee pad.......and get this look straight up me and fake pee !!! Like a drive by peeing ! Then run to her pee pee treat jar ! Oh yea ! Lol |
^^^ Hahaha! I remembered another "communication method" -- Max, if I sleep past his breakfast time, he sits on my face to get me out bed. Silly boy!! |
They are just too funny !!!! |
On day 2 of having Baxter he started sitting by my bed whining, even when I wasn't in it. I finally realized he wants in my bed because he knows that's the one place he can snuggle up to me and I'm not going anywhere for awhile! He also climbs up my legs, standing & sitting! I love this dog so much. |
Heidi's answer to the worlds problems is a spin. She wants something-- a spin and stares at you. Ask her something, if she likes that idea-- a spin. Very much likes the idea, two spins. "Do you want a treat?"-- Wild spinning. She also INSISTS I go with her to the puppy pad. How else is she going to get her treat, I guess. Another funny thing, at night she'll stand in the hallway trying to get me to go to bed. She'll lay down on my pillow, I tell her "You got my spot", she'll get up and let me lay down and she'll get settled. As soon as I get up again, even for a second, she's back on my pillow. Then we repeat the same thing-- "You got my spot!" and she hops back up. Its like she thinks its funny or something. One last crazy thing, she seems to think its a game for me to point my finger at her and she puts her mouth over it, just barely closing. Its the silliest thing, but she does it over & over and loves it. LoL |
