Well it's about what her frame can handle if she is supposed to be 4 pounds extra weight to make her over that's not going to help her. She should not have been bred.

My predictions, after what happened to my toy poodle, are 8.84" and 6 pounds :D

Sigh, doesn't sound like I'll get an answer here, will have to call the breeder :)

Your really not gonna know how big they will get until they get there there is no sure way to tell.

So Pooky's father(left) was oiled up to go to a competition, his mother(right) looks like a healthy dog to me. I loved them. You wouldn't do well living here. lololol

I don't know how much the mother weighs, whether you think she should have been or not is not the point of this discussion. If you're in the USA and call the American Kennel Club in your area and they recommend a breeder, are you going to pick them apart? I did the best I could and am very, very happy with my puppy. You would not believe how much attention he draws. I had a prestigious doctor in our area and family pull over to ask me where I got him and told me how adorable he is just this afternoon. Pooky is very popular ;D

Prefer the Yorkshire Terrier club of America and yes I would ask the breeder lots of questions and if they did not do everything the club says they should be doing
and doing everything they should be doing I would move on. We the buyers are who keep bad breeders in business and its not good for our breed. Whether the female was healthy or not it is not good to breed a female under 5 pounds and its not just an opinion it's fact. I made it as a side note for all future buyers so they would know.

You could come down here and run a campaign, then it wouldn't have been such a pain finding a reputable breeder...and yes, I did look. This one place I went to was literally a farm! Kind of set up rodeo style and the breeder had his dogs in a horse stall, with dirt! I made the appointment and he didn't even wash the dogs! They looked healthy, super sweet dogs, just super unkept.

Anyway, this breeder is all over the national websites for best of show, so I think he knows what he's doing. I told him I didn't want to show, wasn't going to breed, didn't want a wiener dog, but needed a lighter fella because of my back. He gave me a few options and we studied the pictures, then set up the appointment to meet the fam...it didn't take but a minute to decide, they're beautiful dogs, champion blood or not.

There is a Yorkie growth chart here somewhere in the stickies, neither of mine lived up to the expected weight...not even close!

The breeder should be able to give you info based on past breedings but if its a first litter its not going to be helpful...

I know things are very different in Mexico and pups are raised different etc., I'm glad you found one you really like! I'm just picturing the puppies in the coral running amuck in dirt! too funny! Do you have any pics?

I think you are asking a question for breeders about size of parents right? Maybe you should post this in the breeders section. By the way your baby is adorable :).

LOL, love this! My boys broke the rules and predictions. THey are brothers and I did something to grow them bigger than family. ;)

I do know other country's do things a lot differently and I tend to forget that and how many different places people on here are from. In the US they have I guess done more research and have more breed experts or something. Its sad for the dogs though it is a lot more dangerous for a dog under 5 pounds to have puppies. I just wanted to put the side note there sense so many people read these threads. It doesn't make your pup any less lovable or cute.

That's not the point of my post....what I was saying is "it is hard to predict the adult size of a yorkie puppy. Rily's breeder wasn't trying to sell me a "teacup" yorkie. I just meant that she missed the mark in predicting his adult size.

Predicting weight sigh My breeder said my Jewels who was 12 oz at 8 weeks would be 3 lbs shes 8. She said chachi who was 1 lb at 7 weeks would be 5 lbs hes 14. There is no predicting weight
