PS what is the long thing you use? one of those long medical swabs like they use in the human dr office? and where do you get them? I can't get my fingers into the very back of Jada's mouth. Would love to try this. Quote:

No worries...I just thought maybe seeing the name of a product would give you an ahh ha .. moment ;) |
Poor Jada! I never knew this could happen and I am going to look more closely at my boys' mouths to make sure I am not missing anything. You are a great mom for getting her to the vet right away. I'm glad she didn't have to be sedated since she is having her dental cleaning next week. Crossing our paws for her that she will keep all of her teeth. Sending Jada hugs. |
Poor Jada and mom! Best wishes to both of you! |

Poor Jada! I'm glad you found out what was going on and got her in before it really drove her nuts. Having all that stuck in her teeth probably was stressful but mommies do get sick and feel very bad - we're human! It's amazing how many things can go wrong with these little ones. She looks so cute and young after her haircut. I hope she likes it as much as Tibbe does. |

Michelle, I'm so sorry to hear you've not been Well and then have to go through something like this with Jada! :( I agree with others, I wouldn't beat yourself up over it though. Sick or not, you were vigilant enough to carry on your routine of brushing and found the problem and got her to the vet before a serious infection had set in. Jada still looks so precious with her short beard. ;) I'm glad you posted this thread along with the pictures because I would've never imagined that their hair could get caught around their teeth! Yazmin's beard is not that long but it does get in her mouth when she eats. She too has a very small mouth and it's hard to brush her back teeth but I'll at least know to inspect her teeth more often. I'll be watching your post for the name of the dental rinse you mentioned. Take care of yourself and that little Jada Bug! :) |

I am just seeing your post and who would have thought something like this could happen. Thankfully, you saw it and got Jada to the vet. I hadn't known you were sick and glad to hear you are better, Michelle. Prayers for Jada's dental next week. |
The dental rinse my vet recommended is called Dentahex. My DIL who is a vet tech does dentals and says it works. My vet did say there is no miracle cure for small dogs who are prone to having bad teeth, like Jada. But he says this will help keep the tartar from building up so quickly along with brushing. I am just trying to hopefully save as many teeth as I can as Jada gets older. |
OMG and stuck in the teeth! I hope everything goes well! |
Awwwww poor Jada and poor mommy!! This is something that I never would have thought could happen. I learn new things everyday on YT! I hope Jade has a good check up next week and that you realize you can't be everywhere all the time!! |
Oh my gosh! Where have I been all day!! I knew I was tired but geeeeezzzz! Michelle I am so glad Jada is ok! How scary!! I would have never thought hair!! Give that previous girl a hug. |
Just seeing. Glad the vet got the rest out and sure hope the tooth stays put. I like her short beard |

Dentahex Oral Rinse with Chlorhexidine & Zinc, 8 oz | VetDepot.com Praying that all goes well with Jada's dental check up and and that her canine tooth is getting stronger on it's own. ;) Sending (((Hugs))) and kisses to Jada :) |
Poor little thing with the hair stuck on her teeth. Glad you got it figured out and fixed. We have had something similiar here with Piccolo. But it was her hair going down her mouth and throat, not on her teeth. I had to take her to the vet the first time, because I could not see the hair and I could not figure out why she was pulling threads off the carpet and acting so darn weird. They can do the weirdest things, can't they? Bless you for being such a great mom and hope you are feeling better too. |

Why do they do this? How do you know if they are eating their hair in private? |
Omg that is SO scary!! How in the heck did I not see this? Luma is SO annoying sometimes. She takes her mustache and licks the sides of her mouth to purposely pull her hair into her mouth. She chews on it and sometimes it goes down her throat. I HATE when she does it :( |

Hope I am not hijacking this thread, but wanted to post an old thread about Piccolo's hair in her mouth. I learned a few things, such as some dogs could wear snoods, when they eat, to keep this from happening. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...-behavior.html |

I get the long Q-tip things with OraVet plaque prevention Gel from my Vet. These have a long plastic stick and the end has what looks like a flat , arrow shaped eye make up sponge. DrsFosterSmith.com Sells dental sponges on a long stick a pack of ten is $3.99 They also sell dental pads that you use with your finger and I like them. I get the dental pads at Walgreens in the pet meds section, as suggested by my Vet dentist. |

Maybe Jada will benefit from a Korean style hair cut, very short on the muzzle, it\'s very cute... I really want to do this cut on Mimi, but she won\'t let me go near her w/scissors. I have to resort to washing her beard every other day & checking to see she didn\'t get hair in her mouth after every meal. Things we do for love loll. |
